Opioids are chemicals that interact with the opioid receptors in a person’s body to reduce pain.  Opioids are dangerous to all ages.  Colorado is in the middle compared to other states with the opioid crisis.  The overdose deaths due to opioids have decreased in the state but have increased with drugs that are stimulants.  Do not be afraid to ask your doctor for alternatives for medications.
