Mike opens The Restaurant Show with updates from around Colorado Springs, including Berry’s Basket Cafe, the International Association of Fire Fighters memorial and a recent visit to the new Guadalajara Mexican Buffet on South Academy. That buffet sparks a much bigger conversation about restaurant reviews, social media criticism and why diners can have wildly different expectations about food, price and value. Mike and the crew break down the buffet’s Mexican dishes, military discount, service and overall experience while discussing the difference between sharing a recommendation and acting as a traditional restaurant critic. He also looks at how social media algorithms encourage outrage, why negative comments can overwhelm otherwise simple restaurant posts and how businesses should respond when customers complain publicly. The hour mixes Colorado Springs dining, restaurant industry insight, customer service and marketing into a spirited discussion about how people decide where to eat in the social media era.

Since 1991, my Restaurant Shows have entertained people all along the Front Range on radio and television. The shows offer a knowledgeable, yet lighthearted, look at the ever changing restaurant scene throughout the Denver metropolitan area and Colorado Springs.

The shows occasionally venture into other areas like travel, movies, books, and sports. Groups of listeners also join me throughout the year for enjoyable vacations to places like Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean, and more. Authors interviewed include Sean Hannity, Newt Gingrich, Gordon Liddy and novelists such as Michael Connelly, Steve Berry, Janet Evanovich, Alex Berenson, and many more.
