In this episode of In My Neighbourhood, we head to Strijdom Park on CR Swart Drive in Randburg to unpack the City’s recent reclamation of the green belt after years of illegal dumping, pollution, crime and illegal structures. We speak to Karolynn van Vuren, Chairperson of the Strijdom Park Ratepayers Association, about the two-day multi-agency clean-up, the removal of waste and illegal structures, and what happens next. While residents welcome the intervention, the bigger question is whether the area can stay reclaimed, and how the City will tackle the wider pollution and sewage problems affecting the river system. This segment is proudly brought to you by SALGA.
