More Deaths Due To Highway Farm Incidents

View descriptionShare

Pam gets an update on the first annual report of the UW Dairy Innovation Hub.  The goal of the "Hub" is to find and develop new avenues for the milk already being produced in Wisconsin.  A virtual "Dairy Summit" is being planned with more of this information for November 18th.  Maria Woldt explains.

Maple Leaf Cheese Cooperative and Maple Leaf Cheesemakers, Inc. are parting company after many years, leaving 25 dairy farms without a place to process milk.  Bob Bade, treasurer of the cooperative and a dairy farmer himself, explains what they're working on now.

The Wisconsin Farm Related Fatalities reports for 2017 and 2018 for the first time included incidents on public roadways. The reports compile statistics about agriculture-related deaths in the state. In each year, roadway deaths accounted for 29 percent of all farm fatalities (nine of 41 farm fatalities in 2017 and eight of 34 fatalities in 2018).  Cheryl Skjolaas, UW-Extension Farm Safety Specialist goes over, yet again, why road safety is a two way street that has to be respected.
