These are the questions that the Assembly Committee on Agriculture is working through as the issue on foreign land ownership emerges as a priority in the State Capitol. Representative Travis Tranel who chairs the committee, says they’re working on where to draw the line between foreign land owners who are a threat versus a good partner. Two bills regarding foreign land ownership are in the Assembly Ag Committee. Tranel says they’re pulling out the best from each one to craft one new bill. Solar projects are also a concern among his constituents. In other news, even though the 2023 Farm Bill is a federal conversation, Tranel says he was glad to be a part of the recent hearing in La Crosse.
