The IUCN Red Data list now says the maiden’s quiver tree population has dropped by 30-40% in the last 20 years due to extreme drought.
The maiden’s quiver tree is like the forgotten little sister of the three quiver tree species in the Richtersveld desert. While the giant and common quiver trees get more attention, this short and stocky tree is struggling as climate change makes the desert even hotter.
