Art has long been a medium for social and political expression.On Friday (6 September 2024), The Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation will launch a new art exhibition entitled “Palestine Will Soon Be Free, From the River to the Sea". This exhibition will showcase Palestinian-themed artwork by 22 talented South African artists (such as Nathi Ngubane, Alex Dodd, Chris van Eeden, Ruth Sacks and Leonard Shapiro amongst many others) celebrating a powerful cause through creative expression.The event will also feature an art sale, with all proceeds going towards buying colouring books and stationery for underprivileged children in South African schools.Artist & teacher Leonard Shapiro shares more now on his role as an artist in raising awareness about the Palestinian cause through this exhibition.
