An elderly American man, Wilmer Trivett, who had been missing since February, has been found buried in a shallow grave in a beach town in Mexico. The 80-year-old's body was discovered by cadaver dogs in the town of Todos Santos on the Baja California peninsula. A brother and sister, who were previously involved in a traffic accident with Mr Trivett, have been arrested and charged with his murder. The suspects allegedly kidnapped Mr Trivett after he paid them $2,500, before killing him because they thought the amount was not enough. The United States advises American travellers to exercise caution when visiting Baja California Sur due to high levels of crime.

Mexico has begun returning the bodies of the 40 migrants who died in a fire at a detention centre in Juarez last month. The remains of seven Salvadorans are being sent overland, while 11 Guatemalan migrants will be flown out next week. Specialized fingerprint personnel from Venezuela are also due to arrive on Tuesday to help identify the victims. Five people were severely injured, and nine others were transferred to specialized hospitals in Mexico City. Three immigration officials and a private security guard have been detained as part of a homicide investigation into the blaze. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has promised that there will be no impunity for those found responsible.
