The current Foot-and-Mouth disease outbreak is threatening food security in the country, some experts have warned, as the government ramps up efforts to stabilise the situation. Minister of Agriculture - John Steenhuisen - last week appointed the Foot-and-Mouth Disease Industry Coordination Council to support the national strategy to contain and control Foot-and-Mouth disease.
Meanwhile, some organisations have demanded written confirmation from the minister that livestock owners and the private sector may generally procure and administer foot-and-mouth vaccines.
