President Cyril Ramaphosa’s role as the Commander In Chief of the South African National Defence Force has come into question after members of the SANDF ignored his instruction not to allow the Iranian Navy to participate in the recent Will for Peace 2026 naval drills which took place off the coast of Cape Town. The Minister of Defence - Angie Motshekga has established a Board of Inquiry which will look into establishing whether the instruction of the President may have been misrepresented
and/or ignored as issued.
