City of Tshwane is set to auction off more than 800 aging municipal vehicles in an attempt to raise
much-needed revenue, but opposition parties have warned that the move may do little to ease the
city’s deepening financial crisis. The vehicles, many of which have fallen into disrepair due to years of
poor maintenance, are expected to be sold in February, with proceeds earmarked for municipal
operations.
