Total employment in the formal sector declined by 133 000 jobs or 1.2% in the third quarter, compared to the second quarter of this year. This is according to data from Statistics South Africa. The Quarterly Employment Statistics recorded formal job numbers at 10.6 million from 10.7 million. The decrease in jobs stemmed from significant
declines in community services, business services, manufacturing, transport, mining and electricity employment.
