Chidimma Adetshina’s mother has been arrested by the Department of Home
Affairs, assisted by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Cape Town over the
weekend. Ms Anabela Rungo, the mother of Chidimma was arrested at a property in Cape Town. The Department withdrew Ms Rungo’s South African documentation in September 2024 after finding that it had been fraudulently obtained, rendering her
ineligible to continue residing in South Africa. As you might remember, Adetshina's
citizenship came under the spotlight whenM she made it to the top ten of the Miss South
Africa pageant, with many questioning her nationality due to her name.
