Four primary school teachers, four general assistants, and one food handler
were amoung nine Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) employees who
were able to get jobs in the department with criminal records related to sexual
offences.
This was revealed through a presentation by the department.
Out of over 86 000 employees in Gauteng public schools, just under 9,000, or
10.2%, have been vetted against the National Register for Sexual Offences
(NRSO).
