House Judiciary Committee Chairman, Jim Jordan (R-OH), recently sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland concerning alleged whistleblower retaliation against IRS agents involved in the federal investigation into Hunter Biden. In the letter, Jordan expressed concern over the “retaliatory conduct” exercised towards the whistleblowers and asked Garland to hand over relevant records related to this event before June 8.

Jordan's letter comes after a whistleblower from the IRS tax case regarding Hunter Biden accused senior political appointee Garland of giving “preferential treatment and politics improperly infecting” the case. According to this whistleblower, senior DOJ officials have allegedly interfered with the investigation. Another IRS whistleblower who raised concerns regarding inappropriate action taken by the DOJ leadership on the same investigation also claims to have suffered retaliation.

Earlier this week, IRS supervisory special agent Gary Shapley, who was also a whistleblower, gave his first public interview and talked about the alleged improper conduct in the Hunter Biden case. He claimed that when he took charge of the investigation, he immediately noticed that there were several deviations from standard protocol, which were not done promptly by the Department of Justice.
