Shapley's account directly contradicts the recent statements made by Attorney General Merrick Garland, who denied whistleblower allegations of interference by the Justice Department, FBI, and IRS in Weiss' investigation. Garland firmly stated that nobody could prevent Weiss from pursuing a prosecution given his authority. However, the House Ways and Means Committee recently released testimony from two IRS whistleblowers accusing officials from multiple agencies of interfering with the Hunter Biden tax evasion case. The whistleblowers also mentioned attempts to restrict questions related to President Biden and hinted at political influences on the case.

As one of the whistleblowers, Shapley has gone public with his claims that DOJ officials deliberately delayed the investigation. He revealed that there were two search warrants ready to be executed on properties connected to Hunter Biden, but prosecutors hesitated as the election drew near.
