A Border Patrol K-9 has been instrumental in a recent seizure of smuggled fentanyl in Arizona. The seizure was made at a checkpoint along I-8 near Yuma, which is significant as the amount of fentanyl seized during the traffic stop was greater than the total amount seized in the entire past year in that area according to U.S. Customs and Border Protections statistics.

The Yuma Sector Chief Patrol Agent, Patricia McGurk-Daniel, took to Twitter to share the news, stating that the narcotics totaled over 192 pounds. This volume of drugs is reportedly enough to cause the death of 48 million people.

The seized drugs were worth a staggering $2 million, and photos shared by McGurk-Daniel show packets of the deadly drug hidden inside car seats. In one image, a K-9 dog can be seen in front of the car after the seats were opened and searched.
