The Great Seal of the United States was commissioned by Congress in order to represent in visual form the foundational principles of the American Republic. In this presentation which I gave in the historic Trinity Cathedral in downtown Pittsburgh for a group of CEOs hosted by the Young President’s Organization, we unpack the meaning of the various images which can be found on the back on any U.S. Dollar Bill.

From Jerry: The following remarks were given by me at All Saints Episcopal Church shortly after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I was asked to speak by the priest of that church, Father Jay Geisler, and the first minute or so is about his work with addicts.

Ironically, after this call for us to continue to reason together as Christians and to not try to shut out, shut up, or cancel our opponents, shortly after these remarks, the bishop acted to impair me from serving in any leadership post at all in any parish in the diocese.

One year later, after we see the aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk and the hateful and intolerant reaction of many to it, I thought the time had come to publish these remarks here. For what it's worth, knowing that I would be driven out of leadership in a denomination that I had served in for a quarter of a century in reaction to speaking, I still wouldn't change a thing.
