You've been wanting it, you've been needing it, and the media masch is here for you most trusted.
Clarence Hill, all City Dallas is here.
My favorite dog and he's running buddy from that same public case.
Joe Hayde is here, and the champions here. The champ is here. Yeah, man, the CHAMPI is here. The champ is here. O h I oh took them both down? Yes you did, Yes you did?
BAA line them up both knock him down.
The Ohio State graduate he is Jean Jacques Taylor running that with the national championship gear.
Right, man, Flossi, Flossi, you buy some swag. Yeah you have to, man, you have to. You have to to.
Im about a about a couple sweatshirts next week. There you go, there you go, A couple for me, couple for my son.
You know, he represents yes, yes, congratulations.
Still looking bitter over there. We need to move on. I mean he's been good, but he looking bitter right now.
You have to They wanted Peach Bowl.
Right, do you want something right?
They want a couple.
You want to gave him the CFP this year? Be happy?
Yeah.
I was out there last week, by the way, I was over there at University Texas chilling on money, dell content.
Top's good over there though, Monday Monday meeting, money is raking in over there very much. Okay, So on Monday, Monday, Monday, Shotty time officially here. All right, let's go around the room.
Your thoughts on Brian Schottenheimer and the explanation from Jerry and Stephen Jones.
About why he is the guy the Cowboys.
What I thought about the explanations, I'm I mean the explanation was fine. I mean, I ain't believe none of it, but the explanation was fine. We all know they got him because they're comfortable with him, and he come cheap, and that's cool. There's not a knock on him.
It's good for him.
You know what, what did every great coach you ever ever ever dealt with tell you? But preparation. Opportunity. Baby, he got opportunity. Take advantage of it, no matter how you got it, take advantage of it.
Joe.
Yeah. No, my thought was that he's stepping into a pressure cooker because the whole time, and I kept laughing every time Jerry did it was you know, this guy right here is such a risk. This is my risk right here. And I just kept wondering how Brian was thinking the whole time. And it doesn't matter because to your point, he's got the opportunity right now, but he's he's a risk, and to be honest with you, he's not going to succeed without the help of the two guys that were next to him. They're gonna have to give him some firepower. They're gonna have to do some things in free agent to see this offseason, and if they don't, man, that risk is gonna I'm not sure it generates a reward most trusted.
Yeah, that little bud little excitement about this. I don't know how this makes Cowboy fans feel about the future of the franchise. And you know, when Jerry's calling the rest and then he you know, said, this is not something that you get you excited. I mean, it's a it's a whole hum, you know, higher and I was just talking about someone else.
What about this higher excites you?
You know when you can say and then there you know, well, at least Ben Johnson this we've seen this guy and his offense and say, okay, well he could do some of those things and that maybe can make a difference. What about him and his resume says he's going to be the guy that makes a difference. And then you add in the fact that the Cowboys have done nothing in the off season to help the coach as far as personal is concerned, it's hard to get excited. I said that from the beginning, no matter who the coach was, if the Cowboys don't change their ways and how they do business off season, it doesn't matter. But on top of that, there's nothing about him. Certainly, last guy, great guy. I remember covering him when he was a high school quarterback in Kansas City. You know, when I first broke in the business back of eighty nine. You know, son of certainly a great coach, Marty Shechdenheimer. But and you root for him, and certainly he gets a chance to rise and perform in his own merit. But he's not known as a offensive genius. None of the things he's done where he's come from the systems is used not considered modernizing in the day, in today's NFL. What about this excites you? Yes, he said the right things. It's gonna be a collaborative effort, and we gotta have continuity. It takes everybody. We're gonna communicate. But that's what everybody said.
He did say he was good at calling place, but he was great at relationships.
Is he good at calling plays? Oh? That's my point?
Is he he said it?
But is he he's supposed to say that?
Yeah?
Yeah, yeah?
Is he?
Based on what's the track record?
So in the one off conversation to the side, I asked Jerry that, I said, look, you keep talking about this twenty plus year resume, but he's never want anything. And he said, well, he's never been a head coach. I said, I'm talking about his insistent he never won anything. And he talked about all he's had his nose bloodied, and he talked about.
About his failures.
We're gonna take advantage of his failures.
It is what it.
Is, man, And we talked about it last week in terms of anything you read that says how do you grow and get better? Every book, every CD, every all of it says you must be uncomfortable so that you can grow.
So stay there, all right, because because he didn't mention how he worked with Pete Carroll. Now he was not a part of any of the winning that was there Pete Carroll. Actually Robert Sala was there on one of the staffs. Yeah, when they won the Super Bowl forty eight. But he's trying to say or right, he was next to Pete Carroll, he was next to Marty Schottenheimer that somehow Shot he's now going to put together a playbook and a program that he makes his own. Pete Carroll ended up once he lost his job with the Eland Patriots. A. Right, here's what I'm going to do, how I'm going to come back. And he took that to usc took a lot of concepts from John Wooden to me. That's the only thing I can think of when Jerry's saying I'm going to bet on this risk of how this can can possibly pay off? And Shot he said, hey, look I wasn't ready then, but I'm ready.
Yeah, and Shot. He's a smart guy ultimately, and I think it's possible that he has taken these concepts from everyboere he's learned and soak them in and can use them. Right. He said the right things. He said, I want to be more like McVeigh and Shanahan. He said the right buzzwords. But I also kept thinking every time when he was saying these things, who's one of the more popular guys on an NFL team? The backup quarterback? Right? Because there's potential, there's chance. How much did we talk about Trey Lance this season? Right? Well, he was kind of the backup quarterback here with the Cowboys because while the Cowboys offense was struggling under Mike McCarthy's leadership, he didn't take no hits. It didn't take no hits. Yeah, you kept wondering, like, hey, what could Schottenheimer do if you had more more of a role, more of a playmaking call, you know. And I think that that's the potential of this higher and I think that's something they're going to pitch over and over again, and really, realistically, the answer doesn't come to a week one. Well Cooper Rush, Yeah, Cooper Rush too.
Got the best answer. They got to get better players, man.
And that was one of the things that Clarence had talked about.
Can't be your second best weapon?
Now on Sunday night in Channel five, is it? They have to go into free agency.
You have to go get somebody, because it's very clear the fan base is disillusioned and darn right, darn right angry. Then I asked Jerry about that. Jerry said, I'm mad at myself. What's the way to get people back in?
Why he mad at hisself?
He says, sounds good.
First, that's what it sounds good.
And he said he was the right guy to get this done.
But why he mad at hisself?
He ain't gonna change hisself.
But I just asked why he mad at himself? What's the reason for twenty nine years? Is why he's he knows what it is.
You know, he was going for the layups. Are you gonna retire, Jerry? Are you gonna retire?
Well by that point he was better than that.
First are you going to retire?
I'm not. Let's let's put it in. Come right there.
You By this time we had been here minute, okay, we had We were just holding on it, holding throwing out the morsels and that whatever we had already.
You ain't talked about the five six deep questions.
I am with the morsels Jeff Jeff hold and asked twelve.
Ess you got Jeff out that this man is going to be like this man is like norm Hitskers, like my father. They're going to die in they off, Yes, and it's all good for It's gonna be al Davis him got the question police over here all.
Nobody does it like you. Now you're achieved the question police. Now we know that man.
So we were just said, I fly, I take the jessum to see you.
Boy.
Now you got this married time they come out. You just want to get that. No, you want to get that?
No, I tweeted, did he get that?
No? Did he get that?
No?
He got that?
No, you ain't got that. No, you want to get that?
No?
Did you did you report that known news? Yes?
Thanks for watching. That's for the fan base and that was a part of what that was a part. That was a part of the money. He's eighty two years old.
We've never seen anyone at that age win a major pro sports championship as a general manager. Read our back with sixty nine and eighty six when the Celtics won a Connie Mack was sixty two years old and he was running the nineteen thirties nineteen thirties Philadelphia Athletics, So we haven't seen it.
It's just interesting because Monday, and I know, we're on Wednesday, and there are things that talk about and we're going to talk about them. But it was more of a defense, you know, they were on the defensive.
They were talking about we.
Read everything y'all said, and this is our answer. It was everything was on the defense. And like I asked him about, Okay, I understand, you know you like him, but why not run out the groundball? Why not interview Ben Johnson's and Aaron Glenn's and all this stuff? And he basically said, you know, we got Ben Johnson at home. We got McDonald's money at home.
I always said the problem with I mean, he said we.
Got that, we got that right here.
Why he didn't need to interview?
Then that when you when you interview these people, you really just getting a free evaluation organization. And so if six people say, hey, this guy, when I was studying it, this guy, I don't know about him, he might need to go all they said, dang, we interviewed all these people, most of them said this guy needs maybe we just need to look at this guy. But when you don't interview anybody.
You don't get any any free evaluation.
And and and it's funny because you better be funny. You know.
Jeorry taught to Steven yesterday and Steven said, why shotty joey Epstein from Yahoo? And or today whenever they interviewed him. And Steven brought to invoked Andy Reid. Okay, so we got and he said, well, you know, he gonna, you know, gonna be just like Aaron to Reed, you know, and Reed had to you know, go to a new place and new ideas. I mean, so where he's Ben Johnson.
We got that. And now he's gonna be the second coming to and to.
Read and when it goes six and eleven, you know, And as my friends said when they said, when your mama used to tell you I got back, we got McDonald's at home.
We never had McDonald's.
We had that that that white bread, and that that that Skillett burger with.
A piece of cheese. We didn't get no letters, tomatoes.
It.
So this is this is not McDonald's at home. This is not Andy Read at home. I'm sorry, this is not Ben Johnson at home.
I'm sorry.
Now, they did their due diligence on Brian Schoenheimer. You know, they talked to a lot of people they called the neighbors. As Jerry said, they did not do their due diligence when it came to people outside of this building. Yeah, why is it it's comfortable.
It's probably because they didn't expect the head coach leave.
Well, yeah, that's that's nothing that came out because you know, they talked about when they talked to Mike, they wanted Shot Down to call plays, and Mike said that that he's not call good for him. You know, I have some price for something. That's when they pivoted to shot and him. Of course, Mike's if we found out now is not taking a job this year. You know, if Mike knew what he knows now and the Cowboys knew what they know now, what they have come up with a different reason.
To keep Mike. I would say, I mean.
That's one different it's a hypothetical, that's two different questions, Like I don't think Mike stays like, okay, I don't want to give up the play cause I ain't staying under that.
Why I won't stay here and be made.
You don't think there's no reality where because I think he thought he had a good amount of external interests and you know from the Bears when they interviewed, requested and.
Don't sell a seventy ten coach to you fan.
I agree with that with that, But like I wonder if Brian Satam fan base. McCarthy's also a confident guy. He's a confident guy with a lot of pride. I don't know if he. I think he thought that there was enough external interest where he could get a job.
Oh he thought that.
That's what he's.
Supposed to think.
Yeah, agent supposed to tell that.
Like fam you look at the same job and it's like it's not a good job by the way the saint, I mean, it's.
Like Kellen Moore is the last man standing. It's not a good job.
It ain't but thirty two of them.
So that's true.
But yes, for Kellen Moore than but thirty two of them, because I've never had one, right he's had to, he's won.
The Super Bowls. He ain't got to take the same job.
That money, So you know, but I mean you have to have some pride.
Man.
You just can't take anything. Yeah, I mean you just I mean you can.
I mean, I mean, I mean you do that in the nightclub.
I know when you're about to say something nasty now because you kind of quiet down and slow it down and you know gonna do this face a little bit.
You know that's in the nasty and you thanks your just take a break, come back.
Let us talk about the staff members joining Brian Shott.
And I got standards.
Yeah, it's nasty adjacent. I'm sorry.
The most trusted Clarence Hill, that is finest different. This is chop it out in the streets.

Unforgive this is me. I ain't like that no more.
I know you got blood on your hands too, saved, you got saved.
I ain't like that no more.

I got a deep discount.
Okay, a deep discount just maybe not just a discount, but a deep discount.
I know you, I know I know you. All right, So Brian shot Hiberd name head coach.
Let's start to talk about the staff defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus from the Chicago Bears.
He was the head coach there.
Of course, I don't know about you, but I had Bear fans that I know call me laughing.
I mean they laughing because he's a he his head coach issue.
Yeah, he wasn't perfectly.
He's a good defensive coordinator.
Good.
Yeah, it was great.
Yeah, I mean and that's just it.
And again, solid defense coordinators here and Dallas liked him here. He would have been defense courdina in Dallas. But he showed respect and reverence, you know, bit his tongue, bit his lip as they was so propular on Monday. Didn't want to didn't want to take over from Marinelli because they respected Marionnelle. With the end it became a defense coordinator and became a head coach. Solid defense coordinator.
Is he great?
Is he better than the last two coordinators that have been here?
I think we don't know yet.
I don't think.
I don't think it has been better than the last two and and.
Well, Zimmer was a fantastic defensive coordinator historically.
Right.
The last is his history has not been better.
Again with talking about change, talking about culture, we talk about how they do business.
This was that Jones higher.
What is it?
It's comfortable they know him.
It was comfortable they know him. But they they basically had the defense courting for the head coach.
Yeah, which is why we all get the head coach inside out.
They basically defense.
I mean because there's there's no history or track record between shot namur And and Pebra Flow.
This is he was here. The Cowboys know him. He was available.
So now when you do that situation, even as the head coach, you go can't tell him. I don't really want to play that much cover too. I'd rather play a little less. So do I just need to let him?
He gonna be.
He's gonna be the head coaching, defensive head coach of offense. You know what's gonna be said. That's how it's been and and and his schemes. You know, he's the Tampa two guy. He's a Maronella guy. He doesn't blitz a lot. He's more of vanilla. He won't be disguising coverage with a complaint in later years under Maryonnella. If you remember, they don't disguise coverage and they don't do this and and do that.
He won't. He historically is not moved like Michael's used to.
Moving around and mugging an ey gap and he lands them up in rushes, you know. So they play more of a bin but don't break defense. You know, they don't take chances they you know.
But they play hid and they run to the bull.
And all the other stuff.
So again, good hire none to get excited about. It doesn't get you excited.
Yeah, and the vanilla stuff that you're talking about, I think that's a luxury you're allowed to do when you have elite players on defense. And the one problem the Cowboys have going into this offseason. Yes, they have Micah Parsons, one of the most elite players on defense in the entire NFL, but they also have a lot of free agents, including guys at key spots and a mari Eli Systems, Ebra Flu Systems, Nickel Corner's huge guess what Jordan Loose is a free agent three technique O said Dickie Zua. You're gonna try to pay a franchise tag with him over twenty million dollars, or you're gonna try to bring him back. He's gonna be a top ten free agent on the market. I'm not sure they're gonna be able to afford him. So I think in order for ebra Flus to succeed, it kind of falls into the same thing with Shotdenheimer. You're gonna need the Jones' help. You're gonna need them to kind of move some money around. You're gonna need them to open up the bank. You might need them to draft in our edge rusher at twelve to go along with him.
And I haven't gotten a bility. And I've told you, I've said this many times. Run a four to.
Three defense, better have a three technique, you better have and I've said that, and I said that to run.
That defense and for fans to understand when you talk about that kind of defense. We really got popular under Chuck Nole because the three technique was Joe Green and then Tony Dungee started running Yes, and Tony had John Randall and he had Keith Blag So you know, they had those kind of dudes, and that's what you're looking for here.
And I was gonna say, Osa, it's not that dude. He's a foot player, but he is the best you have.
And so you're there for going to have to ask yourself, are we going to at least franchise him for a year while we try to go attempt to find that dude.
I would want to sign and get somebody else to Yeah.
I okay, to get one and draft one. Well, I'm in that opinion right there.
And I know people are really much loving Ashton Genty, who will be here to accept the dork Walk Award.
At SMU on Friday.
Was Yeah, Friday, Hilton Anatoles where they can have the ceremony. But I'm of the belief that I would franchise oh soo DIGGI Zo will pay the twenty mil, and I would use the twelfth pick to go get myself a DT, another DT. You see what with Philadelphia. I mean, he ain't gonna go wrong putting two big ones up there, and then in the second round, I'll go get a running back. But you're not gonna find an impact defensive tackle in round two like you can in my opinion, in round one. They they you got Saquon Barkley, yeah, in your division. The Robinson kid from Washington is not a bad football player. I imagine Joe Shane will probably try and go get a running back.
That won't out in the building. I'm still he'll address that as well.
Or that one guy who said, like, are we sure no one's gonna pay sake one in the meeting?
That was Joe Shane. Yeah, g yeah sure, yeah, So so's that.
If you're going to help out, you know, Matt Eberflus, you need to help him with talent as much as you need to help the head coach. But that's interesting because so many fans Jerry could want to do the fan thing. The fan thing is ashting genty that'll sell jerseys, that'll make people say, ooh running back oh Im Smith that that'll that local kid, that'll get the people jumping.
But well, you gott the.
People jumping after you do get the people jumping in fratency.
Now, if you you get the people.
Jumping and make some moves and raids and add some guys to supplement this roster, so you're not reaching in the draft.
Didn get people jumping, you know, so.
Go sign resign Rico, you know, don't make shoot don't you have to force a running back in the.
Draft that fact, Yeah, Rico, then you can go get one in the second and third round the street, you.
Go get a I don't think Rico's gonna. Rico ain't getting take one money.
It's also a really terrible always not getting Saquon money. But it's also a really terrible free asing class at running back in a really strong running back draft class. I think that's gonna be an interesting nunder you bring up. You bring up something fascinating though, what if Yeah, Ashton Genie is there at twelve, but what if also when these elite defensive tackles falls there, you got Mason Graham from Michigan. Perhaps you know falling there? I know Michigan. Oh, but it makes me wonder because I do think that ebra Flus was a guy that was more handed to Shottenheimer rather than Shotenheim or choosing him. Well, you're gonna have a situation maybe where Schttenheimer wants Ashton gent and ibra flu says, no, give me Mason Graham, who wins out.
And a good point you make it because Schottenheimer is gonna make the running port with the offensive line, with the running back. You know this, this whole thing, he's gonna be different. He's going to emphasize the running game. They're gonna marry the running game with the pass the game, but they're going to fix the running game with the running back with the office line.
That's gonna be a huge focus on offense.
This is.
It's not unique to every team goes through this. I go back and remember the conversations that I had heard. I've never been able to get confirmed that Mike loves Sam Laporta. M Yeah, but they took Mazzie Smith and you know, and then they took so they take Mazzie around one and Luke schoon Maker around to the tight end.
Porter was gone, right, No, but they were saying the Porter instead of Massie La Porter was gone.
Not that.
No, Laporter was the second rounder.
Okay, no, he's not his first round.
Yeah he was gone before he was gone.
He's right before was he right before me?
Like two or three picks?
He was gone?
But but he liked yeah, yeah, yeah, right yeah, they like of course, but yeah the Porter was gone.
Wow. Okay.
You know that was the thing they do is they do it bad consistence. Their grades are consensus and then they put the board together as a consensus, and so yeah, somebody's Jerry's ultimately got the final vote.
But it's much more of a.
What's best for us as opposed to you get to really do do what you want.
And I'm glad y'all brought up La Porter because I'm gonna tell you, the more I watched Tyler Warren, I know you don't supposed to take a tight end take it.
Yes, he want really good player, really good player.
I'm just saying the best player on the board.
Bowers is he proper hours, you know what.
He's not as fast as brock Bars, but he's a difference maker anyways.
With army knife, he.
kN rock Bowers is the valedictorian. This kid is, you know, the salutary.
Because he's a good literatory.
Yeah, he's a thank you he he is, he is. He's good football player. He this is the kind of guy that can help quarterback. And since you're paying him sixty million, go put some pieces around that can help.
So we're done with Jake Fergus.
Not somebody getting the best player. So now you're making about Jake first player.
We wouldn't we gonna run We wouldn't We wouldn't do Marty Cooper. We city feller out loud, Well.
We're gonna run you know, you know what years Jake first? What years first?
And going into their four year four So so you were at this point in.
Time, he's been at three already, you're.
Going to have to make a decision about him, and if you're giving me this tight end, essentially fun of that way, the line of thinking what you said, Hey, we have Cooper, but then here's a here's a player we think can be special. And if you can take a special player, then you take that play.
Just like the Eagles, you know, and to me they are the.
Model standard whatever you want to call it.
Jordan Davis the draft, top draft deep tackle next year Dayalen Carter the same position in the same school.
Whatever.
It's like when people talk about don't get Mason Graham is special.
I don't care if you got you know.
Percent, you know, go go get the special guys, samsition whatever.
Okay, they should take best player available at twelve. I think, especially when you have that many needs where you can honestly apply a lot of these best player availables to your needs. I think to a tight end like running back in defensive tackle and this I think that there's a lot of tight ends.
I get the value and the depth and all that stuff, but if you got a special player, that's what just it burns me up to no end. But just talking about running back to the value and get.
A second and third round, I'm with you on this.
If I got a.
Chance to get a great player like Saguan Barkley or King Henry.
I'm going to get those guys.
And I saying I get a similar type player, get more value in the second or third round, or you can go back to difference makers are still difference maker.
I go back to what Bijeon came out and people were still doing all that kind of thing, and look, it's to me, it's really wild. And I think about Jon Robinson and Kyle Pitch, who I think have been misused in Atlanta. I mean, I look at these two players, I'm like, you guys, don't know what you're doing out there because they're really good football player.
Don't think they used that much, but that's what you do.
In my opinion, I think people overthink it and the cow was gonna be inter resting position. But I do wonder, just me wonder, depending on what happens in free agency, are they going to take a running back? Like asking gent that people know that they go out by the jersey and you can go get excited about especially since you think about the last two draft picks.
Nobody ran out there to get those jersey.
Those are meat some potatoes, you know.
It's some I think, dude, And I asked this question day because I really didn't know which is two last three? Which is how many impact players are in the draft?
Like truly impact players life?
Is it eight?
Is it ten? Is twelve? Is fourteen? Is it thirteen? You know, like true difference makers.
In terms of guys, you can probably bank on probably eight, you know, six, eight, like realistically, like without projecting or stuff like that. I think Ashton Jeens is one of them. Tyler Warren's probably.
Well, if you're at twelve, go try to get one of them cats, because you know sometimes people needs will make one of them fall to you.
Sure, and if asked jenty falls because of the running back mess, you got to take it.
I agree, But I think if Mason Grahm's there, it's a fascinating discussion between Ashton Jean team Mason Graham something like that.
That's I think Mason Graham has more I mean asking Jetty has a more likelihood of falling than a Mason Graham.
I agree with that because of.
The talk about running backs and the value of the position and everything else.
I agree with that.
And look, we do know that the buzz matters around here.
We thought it did until they made the head coach at High.
We'll take a break up with clar Hill, most trusted Jean Jacques Taylor, our newly Scruggs when we come back. Let's dive into the type of schedule that Brian Schottenheimer is about to face in year one as the head to the Dallas Cowboys. Media matters Dallas Cowboys Dot.

To Media Mash. All right, Media Mash, coming at you here recapping the hiring of Brian Schottenheimer as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and the defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. There is a special teams coach that has been named a former defensive coordinator, and his name is Nick Sordson.
And I was.
On your social media page and you pointed out very clearly that he went from court defensive coordinator to the forty nine ers to special teams coach, and that listened to some interesting comments from the people.
What's also interesting is that he was the Spress teams coach coordinator in jackson In Jacksonville in twenty twenty one, they had one of the worst Spress teams. He leaves there, goes to San Francisco as a quality control defensive assistant something like that, and then gets promoted the passing game defense coordinator, then gets promoted the head to defense coordinator after Steve Wilkes took him to the Super Bowl and was let go, And then he's let go one year later this year and is now the special teams coach in Dallas. Of course, he has a relationship with Shot Nimer back in the days in Seattle and again.
So he's had his nose bloody, Yeah, nose bloody and experience.
So when you look at the staff, it's like you want the best in the brightest. I mean, I understand your relationship up stuff, but also one what about him, says he's the best in the brightest.
I was thinking special teams coordinators are like interesting at this point because I think a lot of guys are already off the boards in terms of they've moved around and stuff. And you know, I don't I think it's hard to find a good special teams coordinator A good one didn't And That's what I'm saying. He gone?
Why is he gone?
Because player even went to Nashville because they waited too long.
They waited too long.
Yeah, that's what be frustrating you about to gundred.
Yeah, that's whatd be frustrated.
Like if you're gonna pick, if you're gonna pick the.
Coaches because you picked the with loocentness, then decide that, oh we want a bones. I don't know what we're gonna do, but we want you.
You good.
Here's the bad. You're good, little bit. Okay, you're good.
So you straight.
I mean, if you're gonna pick the coaches, then pick the coaches. Yeah, but don't be half.
In and half up.
He's got a championship ring though.
Who as an assistant special teams Yes, I was there.
That day, Bruno Mars great halftime show.
I think I was there that day too. It may have been one of my last ones.
So so he can show Shody what what the what the.
Blueprint is to get on.
Again and and what else.
Other news that came down today, Will McClay signed a five year deal to raid with the cow Well his deal was up after the draft, but they went and got it done. There was no again, Will, but Clay was never going anywhere, you know. It was just a matter of getting the deal done. They waited too after Uh, certainly they got the care coaching thing done, and now they submitted.
Will McLay to be a part of this regime going forward.
And he was actually part of the coaching process to hiring process.
He was in on all the interviews, so they value him.
Here's a guy who has gotten interest from other teams to be a gym. He's kind of turned them down because they want to remain in Dallas with his family and so at least comfortable with his role with the Jones organization.
Well, I think that's the that's the next move, which is Okay, it's good that I'm doing players, but I want to do more. I want to be part of the decision making process. For me to stay here, because I can do other things in other places, but for me to stay here and I like it here, I need to be more part of the whole decision making process. Is now you know, uh, And that he's.
Yeah, big advocate of Brian Schohannheimer was Will McClay in this process. You know, he talked a lot about alignment and the one thing he said of Brian Schoenheimer is He's going to communicate to the scouting department exactly what he needs. Actually, he's going to over communicate. That's what he told some reporters down immobile. So I think that that's a good sign to get that done early too.
Over communicating is a good thing.
We trust Will McClay.
Yes, yeah, yeah, we trust with Will McLay.
The problem is that Will McClay does not have final say.
He can only present players understood.
But now we trusted, We trust his ies, we trust what they want to do.
But ultimately he does not have final say.
Correct, correct, But I was just mean, and you trust him as well? Okay, good to what he does.
I made his track record says everything.
You know, you look at the Pro Bowlers and the All Pros they've drafted since he's been here, since he took over in twenty fourteen, and.
Then the fourth and fifth and sixth round picks that they hit on them from here and there.
A lot of Pro Bowlers, a lot of All pros.
Yeah, because the much of you talk about, yes, you hit on Micah.
You know there's there's I can't think of the fifth round cornerback darn Bland.
You know he got dron Bland in there.
Okay, so next year Brian Schottenheimer comes to the Cowboys, He's got the two games against Philly, the two games against Washington, four games involving the a f C West, where every head coach in that division has been to a super Bowl and one only one head coach has not won a super Bowl in that division, that was Jim Herrball. Then you go and face the a f C or the NFC North where all with three of the four teams made the playoffs. So this is the schedule right there alone is.
Challenging, extremely challenging.
It's it's tough because all the teams in the West except the Raiders will be good next year. And then you know, same thing with the with the North. So I mean, what's the NFL dog. You gotta deal with it. So you just get that's why, that's why you need players this year. And you know cowboys haven't been me.
Let me do a little cowboy dirty work. Oh yeah, Nobody from the North. Nobody from the North won a playoff game this year.
Nobody in the North won a playoff game.
It was over the playoffs playoff games that the Cowboys win.
I'm just talking about when the Cowboy did win the playoff game when they weren't the playoffs. It was like a bad It was a badge of his honor. There was a badge of disign. Right, nobody from the North won a playoff game this year.
Fourteen and threes and fifteen and two, none of none.
Of them won a playoff game.
Y'all got the same. I'm a playoff win we got.
Hey, there's nothing wrong with going one and done after a success. Okay, the Oregon Ducks, no number one team in the country, wanted to do it.
It was a problem.
Big ten champions, a regular season.
Team, you can't do nothing in the playoffs.
So yeah, they do.
You go back to Carolina, though Sam Donald did not get a lot of work from dan Olowski and other people after.
That performance.
Is who he thought was Herbert.
So so yes, there was there were people who were spared.
But they do have to face Philly twice in Washington twice, and they played the NFC championship game in Philadelphia.
Has a They've got an opportunity to win the Super Bowl.
Love, he has the best roster in football right now. But the piper, right, huh, They're gonna have to pay at some point. Hell's gonna have to come. I don't know, maybe after they won a super Bowl title, but hell is coming Allgitly.
You go across the board in the Super Bowl and they are I think, have the advantage of every single position except one. No, no, you don't think so. You don't think so from a collective standpoint.
Okay, but that one is the one.
That one is the one.
The last time.
That one was the last time, the last time they played. He did his job. Who hurts hurts last time in Super Bowl?
Well, he had that fumble that change the game because they could have been twenty one to six.
I'm gonna put that game out of the reach. You know. He had that fumble that change the game too. Yeah, he did played well.
He played well.
Man.
Unfortunately for him, the two biggest games of his life. Uh, he didn't do enough. Play well, play well. Just happened to get beating those games by by by by some better players.
But you know, he's a good quarterback, good quarterback.
And Carson Wentz is going to be there in the same stadium with Jalen Hurts.
Wow.
Yeah, he's the backup. Yeah. That did not wow, interesting dirty work.
Carson Wentz just.
Had a very precipitous fall. Yeah, I mean it was bigger than the cliff though.
It was like this way.
But but you know, here he is opportunity to be like.
Uh, tell his kids, I got me, I was the second pick in the draft and got me a ring.
Got a ring, got a ring.
Like, uh, he could be a backup for teen years.
I mean, you just rolled with Andy Reid and.
I already got a big contract, got paid.
Oh yeah, was that Blaine Gabbert ended up just hanging on, hanging next to Tom Brady and getting a ring and just chill. I mean, you know, hey, man, there's there's there to me. There is something to be said for having fell off a cliff and still just being there surviving in the game. You still you're still in the game, man, got still getting a check. Now you've got less work. You don't have to sit around here and deal with people. Now you have to deal with the phill up. You mean said, man, go get him a home.
Yeah.
How many throws at Chase Sannuel having his career and how much did that cast per million?
Yeah, there was a lot.
He got paid here. He has some nice contracts.
That's what I'm saying. You know, so, I mean, look, if you can.
Get some of that work, man, go get it.
But yes, Carson Wentz will be be in the building and along with jay O Onen.
Hurt since I just thought that last week.
And he did get a ring because he was he was on that team that Nick Foles when they won championship.
That's right.
I just thought last week was with Washington both in the championship, Washington Phillip the championship game with Cowboys and his coach and search they get.
A whole hume higher uh Friday night, Friday Night.
And now the Eagles, and I mean it's just a referendum on how the Cowboys do business, how they have Cowboys have done business. You got to watch the team change their owner, change their GM, change their quarterback, change their coach, and they get a championship.
Gave me one year. You got an Eagles team that.
Has a GM that runs everything, and it's a clear delineation between owner and gym. Gym runs everything, he makes the coaching hires. He certainly has done a great job in the draft, but it also supplements that draft with with with moves and phrases like Sayquon.
Barkley there, Zach Browm.
They're also a team that paid their quarterback, paid both receivers, paid uh three or four otherings alignment. I mean, they spent money too, you know. And that's what we were making a joke about. You know, the hell's gonna company Eagles. They gonna have to Yeah, when when is it coming? And it's gonna be after they they've been at three super Bowls in seven years.
Now they have a chance to win the Super Bowl titles. Well, when it comes, it's fine.
I mean I can still remember the salad days like you know, early you know, the early two thousand and Jerry was still you reminiscent off those titles in the nineties, you know, and not thirty years later you can't remember this out of the titles in the nineties no more.
Now.
Look, we talked about the Rams and how much they put out there for their championship, and the Rams made.
The playoffs last year.
Yeah, and so so somehow whatever was having to be paid, they paid a little bit. But it didn't prevent them from you know, they kind of got out there and making.
A playoff front.
You know, they kind of operating with an old blueprint, you know, like they're still talking about the cap, like like people talked about the cap maybe even ten years ago, whereas now people are like, let's just take this seventy million dollars hitt and be gone.
We just got to deal.
Yeah, look at Denver.
I mean it took big Denver.
You know, the Seattle did it with Russell, and now you know how it is once the glass ceiling is broke. Okay, let's just take this one hundred million dollar cap and just be done with it. Yeah, I think, and then we can be free.
Yeah. I'm glad you brought up to because Stephen Jones was asked specifically about the Rams and how they've rebuilt things. He said, well, they've actually tried to do the same we have by drafting and developing, and they've done well in that, and we haven't recently. The one exception is the Rams went all in. The Cowboys have not pushed everything in and said, hey, we'll deal with that. Will maneuver that tight wire act later. No, the Rams did. They've lived to tell the tale because they have drafted well.
Yeah, but we do not expect them to go ahead take any massive hits next year.
Right Ooh, the Cowboys.
They said they gotta be better with the cab. They said it, but that's the word.
It's hits. What do you mean hits?
Does a guy like Terrence Steele come back and they say, hey, let's go ahead?
And I don't know.
I think that that remains to be seen, you know, whether they will, you know, move on with Terrence Steel or even one or the two of the safeties you know, under contract to save money. But you know, obviously they are mechanisms they need they can do. I mean, they keep talking about being strapped, but certain if you signed Michael early, you can save money. Certainly there are some triggers you can pull in the deck and city contracts that save you money and get under the sour cappany you're taking. I think to Karen over these the eighteen two a million from last year to handle, the Zach Martin dial and the and the uh DeMarcus.
Lawrence deal, the dead money on their their deal to.
Get I mean, they can get out of camp hell and and be solved enough to make some movies, afraid if they want to.
All right, gentlemen, fun times, great times, fun times, and.
With mister ed maybe take better selfish this time we get together.
By the way, being a little star at the press conference, he was Jerry. Jerry pointed him out and uh asked doctor choking.
Yeah you did.
They treated it good man.
That's my interpretation.
They treated it good man. Yeah.
Congratulations to Cowboys for getting there. The first question at the press conference is David Moore sick? Dirty work work the next time right here on Dallas Work.
This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys football club s.
