The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
Cowboys.
This is media Match, a roundtable of Cowboys insiders, trumping wisdom and offering sizzling takes on the current state of your Dallas Cowboys.
Now your host new he scrugs.
Let's ride media match on a Thursday. You know the gentleman who covered the Dallas Cowboys, John Jacques, Taylor, Kyle Yeomans, and Clarence Hill. The Footworstar Telegram makes I fly second five. It's good to see NLT.
What brother, how are you doing? All good?
All good? Okay, Kyle?
Uh?
The injury report the is we got some problems, right, yeah, the Cowboys getting ready to go face the Chargers on Monday night.
Now yeah, I was literally just looking at it and I've got way too many names on this list, way too many of them. Now, there's a lot of them that are in in IR note non injury related rest. Those guys are Jonathan Hankins, de Marcus Laura, and Zach Martin. I'm not gonna count Tyron Smith even though he is on the rest category. But they did put a little knee designation on there. It's the same yeah, same same name Limited, Dumont Clark Limited, Neville Gallimore, uh C J. Goodwin of course, not gonna practice, uh Janye Thomas Hamstring was over on the bands along with Cavante, Turpin, Donovan Wilson, and Nashan Right though, we're both full, so that's good.
All right, let's start with Turpin here.
I talked to Terpin. He says it's not a high eel spring, which is why he has the chance to play. And you know it's some nerve lioking with damage down there that he couldn't cut. He goes side to side, but he got a little better today. He's gonna say how it goes. Just talking to Mike. They have they're holding out hope that he could play, and there's a chance he could play. So but it's not a Hignkles spring, so it's a good chance he could play. All money. He's gonna try to practice tomorrow.
All right, What fear do you have?
I mean, if you're a guy like Turping, I know you make the Pro Bowl, but just and Parcels just have that line. You don't leaed a huddle because you don't know who's going in.
Oh you're talking about Jalen Thompson tobe to take a spot.
Well, just the simple fact that your guys cut it out because you want to make sure you keeck with you.
I think he's more like I ain't never got a chance to play. I just score a touchdown. Can I get back in?
Yeah?
Yeah, I mean like this is my I missed my shot. I just got taste of it. I'm not trying to miss none.
And and really, with all due respect, I can understand CD, you know, fighting for his catches and not want to be I want to be a big part of offense. I got no time for turping worrying about him job getting. They're trying to win a game. They're gonna put the best guys out to health. Who can play? You know, can you help us play? Can you help us win? Are you able to help us win? Don't you know? I'm worried about if I get out, you know, top of my play, play my spot. We're trying to win. This is it's a desperate time right now.
Desperate and I think losses, yeah, desperate times. I'm sorry if you lose this week and you're three and three going in the bye week, I would agree.
Yeah. I mean this is as must win and you get for right now, and you see what you know again, that's why that Arizona losses is unconstable. You can't lose that game because you do have tough games and tough matchups with tough teams, and because of the demoralizing nature of last week's loss, you don't want it to beat you twice. You know, you need to do what you've done nine in one last ten games when they had a loss on the Mike McCarthy, you have to bounce back.
And I don't think it's just Tolbert or excuse me, Turpin that would be in that mindset. I mean, look at a guy like duce Vaughan right now, duce Von, somebody that hasn't shown a ton of wherewithal on special teams just yet. I mean, he was in the return aspect of the game. He fumbled it in the end zone. Luckily it didn't leave the end zone, so he's able to take an end just get it out.
To the twenty five.
But whenever he's had opportunities, whether it be late in games or or even in the middle of a couple of games, it hasn't shown up well. I mean, he's had opportunities twenty carries, but he's had just forty yards to show for it. So maybe the desperation comes from him too, whenever he's getting these extra reps in practice and he's starting to see some of the returnability.
So let me ask this question, and we talked about it on the previous podcast. You're Mike mccarthur. You don't want to lose this game that dolphin, Well, you want to win. You don't want to just put up nineteen points. You want to win, and you want to win looking good. How is Mike seeing it so far when you've been able to ask for the press conferences about this week?
You know, again, I think sensitivity is high, you know. And you're right about the points because for nineteen points, ain't gonna be the Chargers, okay, And the Chargers defense is like thirty first in the league, So there's no excuse for you not to move bog As the Chargers. Okay. I'm just telling you if they don't score against this Chargers team, sound the alarms. Sounded alarms in the bye week because all this stuff about the offense. Uh, because I'm writing about it today. And you know it's funny because Jerry Jones charging up on the practice field the day really came out street walk. You know what purpose, purpose, what you say about my quarterback, what you say about my coach? Something like that. Now, he said, uh, you said I said something critical about Mike. I said, no, I didn't say. You say I said something critical about that. No, I didn't. I didn't you know from his radio show, because he didn't. I said, Jersey in denial because he continues to support blindly support. But I never said he said anything critical. That was my headline is Jerry Jones in denial. That was my story. But I never said he said anything critical. But that just tells you got all these things to worry about. You just got to be forty two to ten. You're worried about what I wrote. Tell me you know what I'm saying. You worried about what I wrote class here, but but but but again, beyond that, you know, talk to Mike that I asked Mike about the identity of the offense, and the offense has been disjointed, has been uh has lack rhythm from the beginning of the season. We could talk well in the first game it was raining in the weather. And then the second game is because of the score, remember, and then the third game, I don't know what the got caught off guard. The third game we got cof guard and we had so much going on that we had all these injuries and you know, we were just in a funk. Okay. Then the fourth game, you know, we ruled up down the field, but you know it was red zone. Then the fifth game nothing, So I mean, it's been something why this offense has not had a lack of identity, lack of consistency, you know, all season, you know, and that's been a problem. They've gotten by because the defense has played well, but the offense has done little. They it got eight to nine touchdowns? Is the offense in five games? Nine touchdowns the offensive five games? And so I asked him, you know, what is the identity? What are you trying to do on this offense? Is this part the growing paints because you know, they told us, they told us this the spring, we're only changing twenty percent. That's the same we only changed. But it's only been twenty percent of changes, right you heard that, right now? Twenty thirty whatever, it was only we ain't changing that much because one week is twenty, next week is thirty. So you got understand.
It was implementing West Coast concepts into some of the things that Kellen.
Morden they've already done. Now we're acknowledging what we knew. Were gonna have a little growing paints, because when you make changes, it comes growing. But what it was a huge they've done that before. It was a huge word salad that said nothing. But what frustrates me is every time we ask about offense, he brings up defense. He brings up defense. You know, really, I'm trying to protect my defense. And he said that Monday said at the end of the day, and listen, I understand that, which is why you know I've talked blew in my face. The Cowboys want to win with their defense. Okay, they want to be the forty nine ers, strong defense, run the ball game situation. That's what when I talk about that, that's we say, can that get the super bow? Yeah, if you have a strong defense, you have these things in place, you can win games. You really built like that, though the team is not built like that. And my issue is is the defense not as good as they think it is.
Well, maybe it was what I would say, sports is fluid. Maybe it was when they had Trayvon Diggs and they could play the corners the way they wanted to and they could do.
What they wanted to.
But since they don't, and ain't nobody feeling sorry for them because everybody got injuries. Joey most ain't playing this week, So that's the Chargers ain't really trying to hear your your tales of woe. But so maybe what they thought they had on defense they don't have, and so they got to adjust, adapt and overcome otherwise.
And I hear you, but I don't really see that cornerback spot being a problem. He's actually been a strength. The guy that replaced Duran Blind. Duran blind, the guy replaced You know that that's not been the problem. You know that that certainly wasn't a problem in the forty nine Ers game. And it's not.
I don't know if it's necessarily Doran being the problem, but it's the third in fourth spots. I mean, it's a domino effect when you lose a guy like Trayvon Diggs, because then you're bumping a guy outside where the string open.
The strength of doron blame might have been able to help with that on the inside a little bit. Jay Ron Curse has not been good this year. I'll say that it is he has good in twenty twenty. There's Donovan Wilson. Let's be honest about it. Wilson. He may not be completely healthy, you know so. But what I'm saying is you want to win with your defense, though, but do you have that kind of defense? Because you know he's he basically said, I want to play close to divested offense so I don't turn them all over and win my defense. Do you have that kind of defense? What you can win with that you can play close to defense and not push it a score points? That's the question. Do you have that kind of defense? We keep saying it's a championship defense. When does it ever been a championship.
Defense when it played bad teams in bad quarterbacks, bad quarterbacks and you're facing a good one this week.
Yeah. So, I mean, that's all I'm asking because you keep talking about my defense. Every time we asked about the offense, he keep talking about my defense.
If there was a st to the defense, it would be the rotation on the defensive line.
It would be, that.
Would be the championship level that you have, including Michael Parsons as an edge rusher, but you don't have the same I mean, look at your linebacking corps.
Your linebacking corp is three dudes. And it wasn't special. It wasn't special before the lady got hurt. No, it wasn't. It was thin. And you're using safeties there and and and that's mother than I'm glad you bought to strinth your defensive defense line. Where were they Sunday Sunday Night blocked by Trent Williams. I mean, I'm just saying to you, you need your best, you know, because everybody wants to point the deck and deserve the soul, but your best players to win games, you need your best players to play their best. And the best players did not play their best on defense.
Can I just throw this out here from the standpoint forty nine. That's that's Bud Crawford. You got facing buddies.
No, no, they got Yeah, you got face blood. But again, that's what I talked about. That's why we talked about, you know, emotional, mental, you know, demoralizing. You cannot let this thing. Yeah, you cannot let this thing spiral downward because it can. And again, as I said, they have a history of bouncing back ninety one. But this is a different This was a different punch. You know, they got punched against against Arizona. But they weren't really pointing toward Arizona. Okay, they kind of overlooked Arizona. They were worried, but they weren't really. They didn't have their hair on fire for Arizona. They had their hair on fire allegedly. I'm mad, I'm pissed off. This is the game. I won't This is the mess to the game they had. They had all of this for the forty nine ers and they got pushed in the gud. This is a different This is a different wake up call in Arizona.
Well, I heard a couple of interesting theories on that today because I asked a couple of guys. I said, the real basic, the hell happened to y'all? And it was? And the answer I got from two different people was made it interesting to me was it was a little bit of hero ball. And I said, oh, everybody trying to make a play. It's like, yeah, we just act like we ain't know our defense. Everybody was just out there doing anything.
How does that happen?
Well, I mean it can happen when you trying to make it.
I mean, what how does that up off size of the safety happen?
I mean, what is the fundamental thing you hear from all these football coaches? Do your job, But when you're trying to make a play, you don't do your job. You're trying to make a play, because when you do your job, the play will come to you and it's you make it or you don't. So that's just a couple of theories. Now that maybe players coming up with reasons why they before reason justifications.
We got to come up with something other than we're not good enough, other than we don't messure up. You have to come up with something.
Yeah, but sometimes it's legitimacy to it. Sometimes it's not. I don't know they I don't know whether it's legitimate or not. Okay, that's just a couple of theories.
When you're o in two against that team and then you go to three or forty two to nothing, you know, I mean, excuse me, I'm sorry for.
It's like when.
We got the h we got to Yeah, we gotta kick out. We gotta sell a kick out. We gotta kick out. I know what day we got to kick up?
How you protection it is something right?
And when the range is slump, why they say it's slumping. Anybody trying to hit homes. Everybody try and do too much. You can do too much done.
Point I made before we uh last week? Can you put too much into a game?
Yeah, you can't too much.
I think you saw that. I think you saw that in week five. I mean it goes back to what Clarence was saying. Is the reason that this was such a big gut punch, The way that this hurt was that it was mono imano. You thought that you were there, this team thought as an organization they were on the same level as San Francisco, that they were on the same level as Philadelphia. And whenever you go up there and you're saying, we're fully healthy, we're ready to go up front, we have our starting offensive line for the first time in two years, ready to roll, and then you you can't even get off the ground from a running standpoint or from a passing standpoint.
That's why it hurts.
But again, you can't let a loss like that beat you twice. You can't let San Francisco beat you even whenever. You've got an extra day to let this one sit and let this one simmer and let the bad taste stay in your mouth. I mean, you've got a chance to move on against the Chargers, and if you don't, then all of a sudden, you've got two weeks to think about it, and there might.
Be a whole lot of changes within those two weeks.
All right, media, mash friends, let's come back and chat about how Dak Prescott can improve and get himself rolling when they play the Chargers Monday night.

Mediamatch.
Here we are.
It's Thursday up here at the Star in Frisco and talking cowboys and media members. Jacques Taylor got Kyle Yeomans, Emmy winning Kyle Yeomans here, clarens Hill Yay.
By the way, Kyle, what are you doing?
What am I doing tonight? I've got a high school football broadcast?
High school? Yeah? What do you do? Okay?
T nothing, Okay, you're trying to get tickets away.
Know something, since you got to doing nothing, you can come hang out with Clarence if you need more clents, you want to meet clans? Wow, I wanna smoke and drink with Clars. You can do it tonight at Lab's. It's it's chills Thursday event man. Watch, watched Taylor Swift and how long are you gonna be out there?
He's got former Aggie Kevin Swift with him. Tonight we get.
Them six six sixty eleven something like that.
Whatever.
The games we stayed to, the games we watched, We watched the buck Thank you, Thank you.
He's got great food too.
Man. You know, one day we're gonna get We're gonna get Jock out there to do it. Books sign probably about three weeks. Three weeks, yeah, okay, we're breaking news here. That's there. You go break Jock Taylor books signing. Baby, pull it up. Probably maybe probable really on the deck, really think, probably really thinking about it.
Probably really just.
Don't do it. They're found this week.
Trying to get it done. A few moving parts. We got to check with a couple of things, make sure that there's none other things. Schedule.
Did you get your copy? Chill yeah, copy, he did it.
Get I gotta I gotta check with pul.
I gotta get yeah, because I want to copy.
But by the way, he's talking about his book.
It is called Coach Prime Deon Sanders in the Making of Men, Jack spent a whole year with Dion and Jackson State University, so the in participate so much of what you've seen in Colorado.
He was there to see.
He's covered it.
The book is outstanding, So please go get yourself and appreciate.
I don't mean to jump in here, but you are, but I do. That's piggyback on that. Deon said, this is some thing to say about the Cowboys this week. Say they don't have no dogs. They say they got dogs. They don't act like dogs. You know what. You know what he means by dogs? You know, because he don't have leaders, he has dogs. What is it? He doesn't have captains, captains, leaders and leaders.
And so he went on because every leader and a dog, and every dog lead.
Right. He went on the show either Sunday or Monday and basically said the Cowboys don't have their dogs, don't show up. He said he felt for Dak. He Saidak could play better than that. But he said the guys are supposed to be dogs, don't act like dogs.
That could only be number eleven at the front of the group because he is lying, that's just a dog.
He said.
The gap wasn't is score didn't indicate the talent. The gap may standing right there in front.
He said, you are what your record and the score says you are.
So when he says there's no dogs, do we do we who do?
We start to go down the list just I mean, you can go down the list all you want to. The bottom line is essentially he's right, Which again that's the point I've always made when we talked about playoff losses. In games, your best players have to show up in the biggest moment, you know, and dealon talking about that. You know, when the end of his career, you know, you know you got to show up. You know, when it's time, you know, you got to show up in the biggest moments, the biggest game he was got to did you know, And you go back to last year and everybody points a dacks in receptions, But who else showed up and played well in the playoff game? You know, and you go back, you know who showed up, you know, and and Sunday night, the defensive line passed us, did not get to the quarterback. You give up. You get it. One of the players that that's in the game other than Curse lining up outside. When you get off the field, you have a chance to get back, to get off the field, but you give him a forty one yard past you finally get a hold, finally get a hold. You put them back.
Thirteen thirty, thirteen thirty.
This is what you want. You want to put this quarterback in long down this and now you can't say they didn't. They threw it too quick so I couldn't get to the quarterback. You have. He has to drop back and throw the ball down the field, and you give up forty six.
Yards pretty line up like a can get it done.
You get up, give him forty six yards. Yeah, you can't do that.
You set eleven. The first one that popped into my head was was eighty eight, and it was one. Those were the two that I was thinking of, because I'm not saying that jay Ron Curse is a dog, but he definitely thinks he's a dog, right and he's not.
He hasn't been. That's one thing.
I mean, he costs Dallas single handedly fourteen points with the off sides penalty on the third down and then the taunting penalty, because even if that's not a late hit and they on they called it on six, but it was on one.
Right, he was the one that was doing the taunting.
Either way, it would have been a penalty and it would have kept the drive alive on the third down where you.
Were only Dallas.
I feel right, you have a chance to ride, a chance to go down and continue that moment. And so that's why I keep talking about when they talk about the offense, but the defense had a chance to give them opportunity to get back in the game. Same thing and going back to Arizona, I mean, when office finally got the road, you know, to give it a sixty nine year past, you know you can't that that can't happen. Honestly, when your championship defense, when we're playing to our defense, when the defense the best part of our team, you need your defense to show up.
Show Going back to what Dion said, is this indicative of what we've seen here now for many many years?
Is this year? This is many years?
Correct?
Oh?
The reason why they got a twenty seven year drop without getting to the NFC Championship game.
All right, there's no question, there's no question. This is what we've seen, you know, and this is what it's been, you know. And like I said, and I've had a front door woodn't door seat to it all. I started in nineteen ninety seven, really started in I started actually late nineteen ninety six. We got a you know, late call up for the playoffs nineteen ninety six. That was when I started to when when ninety six started living life, That is when I started. When when when I saw Michael Irving and in Carolina that musta green sooner side and everybody's hurt, you know that that lost and and who knew over the moone all of that, and so ninety seven, you know it full time on the meat. It has been four playoff wins, four playoff wins, four playoff wins. So yes, it's been this way and and and that's part of the frustration you talk about, this is gonna be a home game. I saw a lot of frustrated fans at the airport and see it in San Francisco, who like, I'm not paying any more money, I'm not going on any more road trips. And I'm sure there are a lot of a lot of well there are a lot of cowboy fans in southern California will be there. But I'm telling people coming from Carolina. People come from all over the country, uh, to this game in Florida and everywhere else. And I just talked to fans and they were frustrated and disillusioned.
Yeah you say that, but they'll be back.
Yeah, I'm sure they will. But I'm just I'm just saying there's there's a What I'm saying, though, is there is a particular and just like what the comments on DAK and there's a particular frustration because of the twenties selling your drought. People are tired. They're tired of being sold a bill of goods. They've been tired of being told this is the year, this is the team, this time, we're gonna do it and get let down. I mean, I mean they I mean, that's your.
Fund if you let Lucy keep from you.
Man. But they're fans. They're supposed to they're supposed to be They want to believe you. You want fans to believe.
But I also think what you're saying, is that fan who told you after night the game, you will go George w.
Bush take get food again.
They let him go on to three game, no doubt.
But but but that's We're gonna see me in Buffalo, no doubt.
I think that's part of that. But I'm just saying that twenty seven of your doat is. What I'm saying is that the negative. There's a lot of extra negativity on this team, especially after that loss and all this because of the twenty seven of your drought. I think they that and this team is feeling the weight of the past failures of everybody else. Yes, their own, but everybody's past failures is big dump on this team.
But I also think the way they put last week.
The owner comes out talking about head coach says, you know it's big you got tanked talking about getting back. There were enough people in this organization who gained fans this hope and belief.
Did they They They.
Were supposed to say that though were you but they believed, Yes, they believed it, and never saying they did.
You don't do something you don't believe.
And they were supposed to say that they put too much in the last where.
They didn't have to. First of all, the NFL know what they were doing. They put it on Sunday night. Whether they said it or not, we was gonna write it and talk whether they admit it or not. There's no way any journalist was not going to put what happened in the past, all the changes into this game and what it's supposed to mean.
Opportunity to go to Bill Belichick.
Correct, but that's.
Not true anyway. Just because you say it, don't mean it's really what you feel. We all know this what that game meant. They there was no discounted, no sugar coating, no getting around.
I just did I thought they put I just felt like I heard too much.
But people put way this game.
Is.
I've been just coming to the conclusion. Yes, you know, over the years, and certainly after the Arazon when they were doing the winding after Arizona game, you know, and you know you know when that you know this, you know, talking about this is what the media wanted. You know, y'all worried about the wrong thing. Okay, they have to learn how to be champions. They don't know how to win. They don't know how to be winners. And that's what it is. You can showing up. You you winners show up. It's epidemic around here. They have to learn how to win. I go back to the and again it's not a blueprint. You go back to the ninety two Cowboys. They wanted to expect to win. They win and seize that thing. You know, it ain't no, it ain't no like.
But they had what dogs.
They had dogs. They were baby dogs, but they were dogs. Ninety two was not supposed to be their year. They was a year away. But but they but dogs show up and bite when they pups.
They had Hall of Fame dogs.
They bite when they pups. And I'm just saying, though, you know there's no succession. Well I get this win, and I get that win, then I take the next step that ain't had works. Just take win, you know, win. You know, it's funny because Brady James had this great line when he was rookie, when he took probably his only one. Well hey, yeah, it's great line. He said, this is nil and they ain't wait your turn now. And it's the same weight your turn this NFL. Best players play, best teams win. It ain't wait your turn.
Going back to the apathy from in the frustration of Cowboys fans too. This loss feels different in the way that it's the same team you haven't been able to.
Get over the hump with San Francisco.
It's the same team that's been your roadblock in two straight playoff appearances, two straight times where you felt like you were healthy enough to make a run and you didn't get it done. Then you said, Okay, now we're healthy in the regular season, this time is going to be different.
And then it was the worst of the three.
So even if and knew what you talked about, they go on a five game win streak and they start beating teams like Philadelphia. Sure the numbers will start to come back and there will be more fans out there, But until you get over the hump of San Francisco or you just don't see them in the playoffs at all, I don't think you're you're going to see the full buy in like you had going into the end, and that you're just not gonna see it.
And that happened in sports. You can't beat this team, that team can beat this team. You can beat that team. You know, maybe they let somebody else do their dirty work. But you can't do that though, like you yeah, you can let somebody else be do your dirty work. Why would you get to your end go?
But that goes that goes against what you just said though that you're talking about you can't wait your turn for Philadelphia.
To go get it yourself. Sometimes because of the seating, it just works that way. That's that's, that's all I mean. You know, at the end of the day, you gotta win your teams and to get where you want to get, you know, but if this is the team that just has your number, you know, maybe you know, let somebody else do your dirty work.
They get a little bit of cover, they get a little bit of cover.
A little bit, but you still got to beat that team though.
The tonight the Stars are playing, so the Star season Stars and Rangers get going over this weekend and get a little bit of get a little bit of cover.
But we know there will be no cover if they lose on Monday night.
This Cawboy City.
They lose on Monday night, I don't care what the Rangers are doing.

But what we're doing this is not about Texas. It's not about Texas. Text we beat Alabama. Who's your team is Texas? Who is your team? Is your team? Who's your team?
Who's your who is your team?
I just want to know who your team is? Which team you Carolina? Today? You pim broke the Alabama? Which one pick one pick a flake? Was it TCU? Which? I mean you got so many? You got? No, you got so many? Pick who's your teams?
No?
No, no, he's he got that. He got the Purple Carey ons for t c U, he got Alabama, he got North Carolina, he got pembroke way graduated from I didn't. I didn't even pick a team. M What does he have to Maybe he's just a sports finished. You can't, you can't. They got sweat equity anybody. That's what Twitter is for. We don't respect that.
There's rules to the schedule.
We don't respect that. You got to pick a team you got You can't talk trash if you ain't got a team, go by your rules. Yeah, because you're just willing nilly. I mean you don't respect willy nilly. No, we don't do WILLI nilly fandom. You you cannot talk trash to me if you willing Nilly, No, you're right.
I agree with me.
I just like willing Milly. You cannot. Yeah, that's my daughter. Look at that now, I mean you're gonna bring my daughter? Keep my daughter your mouth.
So like the Oklahoma fans, that's he's my father in.
Law, my daughter. My daughters are cheerly. They're right by the way, who Jeff, let me coach see from Oklahoma?
Okay, yeah, go drink with Claires. You get all that.
All this is what you can see. We have some good time. I'm a fun person with Claire too, fun loving. Keep screaming on this show. He's a voice left.
What's that on Monday Night?
He's got to be efficient and take care of the football because you talk about.
Going into that game with only the one interception.
But then he tries to tries to push you downfield a little bit, tries to get outside of their game, playing outside of the West Coast principles because they're playing from behind.
You're looking at this Chargers off or this Chargers defense.
Rather than saying they're thirty first in terms of yards allowed, they're dead last in terms of passing yards allowed. Now we can push the ball down the field. But if you do that with turnovers, then you're gonna be put behind an eight ball again. And especially with four turnovers, four interceptions thrown on the season, the three last week, you can't afford for a repeat in that record.
See, so that might be the problem. They so focused on his interceptions. Yea, he ain't really playing free, No he's not. You know, like you can't worry, but you just got to go out and play and see that should do that thing that justin fields de like you know what, bump y'all. I'm finna just go play.
Yeah, and you know you gotta do that without.
As university. We just come out there and blast coaches like that.
No, but what I'm saying is this in Jock's right, and we've talked about this this week. There's too much mechanic to it, seems Rode bout it is. I got to give my drops, I gotta get my steps to go with the pass game, with the routes, and then as soon as one read is off and he's off, then you gotta do all of this and I gotta worry about turnovers. Just play football, play free. And there is too much inmphasis on we can't turn the ball over. It's part of the game. Pass the game on two on the three days, gay, but catch interception of incomplete pass, that's part of throwing the ball. That's just not what the second thing happened. I understand that. But again, he's not a guy.
Who's been in history.
He's not doing it. But when you sit up here and press on it right and like he has been, when you sit in last year and a half, yeah, not twenty twenty one after the ten yeah, let's call it's still a ten picks though? Is that thirty seven? Such? I understand.
I'm not saying Dak Prescotts a bad quarterback, but I want to take care of the football everybody won't take care of But you need to score.
You know, you have to score in this league to win. Not sit up here and say I'm so worried about interceptions that I'm not going to throw the ball down the field. I'm not going to throw the ball over the middle. I'm not gonna throw the crossing route. These are parts of your offense that you know you have to score points to win. Really, I mean, it seems like it's you know, it's basical, but that's the case. I mean, you have to score points in this league. They talk about it, you need to score touchdown. They have not scored touchdown. So all this talk about we're gonna protect this and run this, you ain't getting an end zone. Nope, you ain't getting the end zone. And the Cowboys under Dak Prescott the last two years have been the highest scoring team in the league. And I'm talking about defense touchdowns, talking about this offense that scored more points. But Dak Presscott a quarterback than any team in the league the last two years. This year, where are they They got nine touchdowns in five games. So we can talk all day about protecting the ball and running and all this other stuff. It ain't getting get an end zone. Is it giving your defense a chance to win you a football game? I don't think that the way they played offense was the reason why they've won those three games. And I do know the way they played offense did not do anything to helped them win the two games they lost. Yep, they played no role in getting helping them win the two games they lost.
What is the concern with an Austin Eckler coming back and Everett tight end for this linebacking slash safety corps in this football game on Monday.
Well, it's a problem. I mean, Austin Eckles good. He's versatile, he's a big play guy, thanks scoring like eighteen touchdowns last year. I mean, he is a dude. And you know that's what you got all those linebacker safeties in there to do handle guys like him. But you know, I think even bigger than that is they just got to play a style. And what's the style that they want to play? Start fast, get up and then allow your defense to attack. But what's the key to that? Start fast?
And first of all, without respect the Eckler, he ain't McCaffrey, you know, and so they need to stop the run. They need to stop equor. I mean he does. He's a big part of the offense. But you know there's a ceiling on.
Who he is.
But I would suggest and think that when the Cowboys win and talks this week, they're gonna take the ball, They're gonna take it. They should take and play play offense first. Yeah, get a lead. Okay with that with this defense and the defense are I mean, I mean yeah, with this defense, get a get a lead, get a lead. I mean, you know, the Cowboys have been front runners when they get a lead, when they get turnovers, they look like game busters. When they don't get a lead.
Yeah, they're three and ozero with a lead, and they're zero and two without one, oh and two with double digit loss big time losses.
When they without one get a lead. Play from my head, I really thought, I mean.
That's how they built their team to play.
Yeah, and I really thought McCarthy would would would take the ball against the forty nineers. I was surprised to s if I'll tell you the secret later on, you know, because I said, Monday, why did you take the ball? You know, why don't you take the ball and established something you know, and then try to get a lead, because you know, you put the defense out there, they run it down your throat, you go through it out and you know it's like the game. Seriously, I mean, because people talk about interceptions, and the game was twenty eight to ten before deck there was first interception, that game was over. No, it was done.
The one thing I will say is the offense did their job to try and climb them back.
Yes they did.
And when it was fourteen to nothing. Yes, the offense got on the field and they executed almost an just a perfect rove. Moved down the field, got the chains moving, We're able to find the receivers, We're able to take what the defense gave Um found the post or the corner route rather to Cavante Turpin in the back of the end zone. Just a phenomenal play call, phenomenal execution. And then it went downhill whenever the defense couldn't.
Do it right. And then you give the third fourteen, you give them a score befoard it and it's twenty one to seven, and you know, like you you then when you get the second half, you make it twenty one to ten.
And then that's when the back to back fortyfense.
Yeah, I mean you can't. You can't let that happen. Maybe, Yeah, I think I agree with you.
Last week I was okay with taking it because I thought I still think the defense is the strength of this team all the way through. I still think the defense is where you you rely and you hang your hat on after that performance, I don't know if I have I don't think it's as big of a discrepancy.
I think it depends on the.
Matchup at hand. And if that's the case, then yeah, let's take the football. Let's go down and score and then get play with the lead. Let your defense pend their ears back. Worst case scenario, you're tied at seven.
Yeah, And I just have a problem because I would listen to you know, you listen to other people, you know, the guys in the just locker room talking about, you know, we have to play defense because we know our offense is struggling. You know, we know, you know, we're you know, we got one time arm time by behind our back on offense. That's not the Cowboys offense. No, why are we treating the Cowboys offense like you know, it's the remedial unit that has to be and.
It shouldn't be with a forty million dollars quarterback and the receiver who wants to be paid like any teammate.
Of running back in the office line full of why are we treating the offense like it's it's speaking spell? Because maybe they aren't as good as they think they are. I mean, the numbers wise, they have been historic over the last fewear.
They say, the last few years, the first five games have been not good and by this point in the season, you start to find the identity of what teams look like, of what of who they are and how good they are.
Maybe this is what it is offensively.
A lot of football we played, got a lot of playoffs. So let's get predictions here this Thursday night. That's right, Russell Wilson and the Broncos hosting the Kansas City Chiefs tonight, Denver, ten and a half point under the who you got?
Can I sco seventy again? And they give up seventy?
Chiefs ain't scoring like that?
They cut Frank Clark Sotadi regular like that.
I think you know, I don't usually like ten point road favorites, but you know ten has The Broncos got nothing, man, I said, I said it Chiefs rolling on them?
Man, are we doing against the spread or we're doing straight up?
Whatever?
You want? Give me the Chiefs and to cover forty the teen Chiefs, Yeah, was gonna.
I wasn't quite that out there. I was more like thirty seven fourteen, Taylor Swift will be there, thirty one thirty put it on the show, Taylor Swift, Yeah, I said, thirty seven fourteen, make that forty three more.
I don't think Champagne is gonna be able to shake it off.
Let's get another one. Sean hey Man, humble yourself, Humble yourself.
You might get humble one more time tonight on National TV. Give me the Give me the Chiefs big in this one? Here all right, Jeq Taylor, Kyle Jolms, Claire's Hill.
Thank you all. Not forget the Monday Night.
Oh that's right, you guys are here tomorrow. Okay, Monday night? What you got?
What you got?
I'm sorry, I forgot that.
I'm assuming like it's Friday and the morning I'm thinking about I'm thinking about my other show players.
Okay, what you got Monday night?
The Cowboys have to win, so I'm gonna go with them. I'm not confident, but they gotta win. Going with them?
Yeah, you said confidently the last.
Yeah, I'm gonna go twenty four to twenty one.
Dang, he's going to twenty four point skins? This defense? What you got we're going to?
Why do I have to go next time? I'm here tomorrow, save you say? Yeah, I'll save sa.
I believe in the desperate home team theory. I mean the desperate team theory.
In the whole team. They not at home. Chargers are pretty desperate too, they'll be home.
I think there's a lot riding on this for your Dallas Cowboys, and so I think they will figure out a way to win something like twenty seven twenty four.
The Cowboys to win this one. How to score them on the players land? All right, Clarence Hill, Kyle Yeomans, Jack Taylor struts. Thanks to Chris for saving the show. To keep somebody's language out the airway. Sorry, guys, Yes, we'll talk to you Tuesday right here on Dallas Cowboys Comman.
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboy He's Football Club.
