A new emergency shelter and healing facility officially opened called Iskwew-Awasis Waskaykan Women's Shelter on Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation land near Prince Albert.

The facility is a place of safety, healing, and hope for women, children, and families affected by domestic violence and crisis situations.

MBC news talked with Sherry Bates, the executive director of the new women's shelter about the new facility.
