Love is in the air at the Prince Albert Indian Metis Friendship Centre as Friday, February 13th they hosted a Valentine's family dance in the gym.

Executive director Kevin Ray, who was newly appointed to this role back in September, talked about a big event coming up this month.

The Friendship Centre will be hosting the Sharing Our Voices to Heal community gathering from February 23-25. One of the guest presenters is Willis Janvier of Dene Yati Media.

This gathering will focus on empowering women and 2-spirit individuals, strengthening men and 2-spirit individuals, and inspiring youth and Elders.

The YWCA in Regina launched a new fully digital violence prevention and bystander education program on Mar. 3rd.

Upstander Online represents a significant step forward in addressing Saskatchewan’s gender-based violence crisis.

The program equips workplaces, nonprofits, Indigenous-serving organizations, and community Groups with practical tools to recognize red flags, intervene safely, and strengthen accountability.

Saskatchewan continues to report the highest provincial rates of gender-based violence;  the highest rate of intimate partner; and has the second-highest rate of sexual violence among Canadian provinces.

MBC News discusses with Megan Moore,  Senior Director of Community Programs for the YMCA in Regina about the Upstander program.
