As children and families enjoyed a nice day at the North West Leisure Centre splash park, Regina City Police (RPS) officers came and handed out cold treats.
The initiative started five years ago and is called “Copsicle Day.”
It is a community engagement initiative where officers visit local parks and spray pads to hand out free popsicles to meet and interact with residents in a casual, positive setting.
“A friend of mine that I worked with, she actually started it and then I just kind of took it over when she left,” said Constable Richard Claude, with the Cultural and Community Diversity Unit at RPS.
