A new playground honouring one of the victims of the September 2022 mass stabbing incident will be built in the Village of Weldon.
The community banded together and created a group to create the project committee.
The playground project in honour of Wesley Petterson, who was killed along with 10 others on Sept. 4, 2022.
During the first pancake breakfast fundraiser the Weldon Playground Project garnered enough financial support to secure the playground equipment.
The project received a donation of 116-thousand-dollars from James Smith Cree Nation.
Co-directors of the Weldon Playground Project, Jamie Petrie (pee-tree) and Chelsey Erickson say they are overwhelmed with the donations they have received to date.
