The Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology celebrated the grand opening of a pop-up Career Centre in La Loche on January 25. 

This is the tenth SIIT Career Centre in the province and will provide training and employment services to people in La Loche and the surrounding areas. 

SIIT Senior Director of Employment and Strategic Initiatives James Ouellette spoke with MBC about the new Career Centre.

The Supreme Court of Canada has issued a decision Friday in favour of the Metis Nation-Saskatchewan.

The MN-S had been embroiled in a legal battle with the Government of Saskatchewan over a land consultation dispute about mineral exploration permits in northwest Saskatchewan.

The government had argued the permits did not meet Duty to Consult criteria because the land was apart of a land claim by the MN-S that had previously been stayed.

When the MN-S brought the matter to court, the government argued it was an abuse of process because the MN-S was bringing multiple actions against the government over the same legal issue.

In Friday's decision, the Country's highest court, denied the appeal from the government saying there was no abuse of process in the case.
