Weight-loss drugs have seen a surge in popularity in recent years - but there's still common misconceptions about what they can do for people.

Drugs like Ozempic, which isn’t available in New Zealand, were developed to treat diabetes but after clinical trials, the drugs were found to aid weight-loss.

Bariatric specialist Dr Richard Barbour explains these drugs can help people with weight-loss - but they're not a 'magic pill' for the obesity epidemic.

"It's overhyped, it's oversold - there's a lot of common misinformation out there around it. I mean, there's no doubt that it's revolutionary... but Ozempic itself is not that great at helping people lose weight."
