China's wealthy elite have turned their attention to the US in order to utilise their less-regulated surrogacy system to build their families.
In New Zealand, the surrogacy sector is more regulated - where the process is an altruistic arrangement and a prospective caregiver has to legally adopt the child from the person who becomes pregnant.
