This week Opposition Leader Bill Shorten announced Labor's intention to "implement Australia’s first national electric vehicle policy, setting a national electric vehicle target of 50 per cent new car sales by 2030".

Later on Kiis FM's Kyle and Jackie O Show, Mr Shorten claimed it takes between eight and ten minutes to charge an electric car.
