Superintendent Kylie Reed joins us. Good morning, good morning, great to see you.

Great to see you both as well.

Now the election's finished here in Queensland, you governments, will that change police laws or policy or anything like that.

Oh, Look, I think there's always an opportunity to have a look at how we do business, and some of that might mean some legislation changes. I'm probably a little bit too early to tell, and I'm certainly not part of those discussions, but I think there is a lot of work that we could do in the domestic and family violence space, particularly about how we support our victims and probably around streamlining our processes.

Okay, sure, yeah, of course in this area, you know, with what's happened in the last twelve months and a lot of things, obviously they want to change and no doubt it will happen yet.

Yeah, absolutely, and I think all of our police would really welcome some changes.

And I know it takes up a lot of your work time and to have that support for you guys, I think is a very vital thing.

So police power has been taken away over the last fifteen years or so, no.

Powers have been taken away. I think the demand is increasing and I think domestic and family violence is becoming even more complex. So these are just constant challenges that we have to face. Coercive control has come in so that that will really change how we support our victims and certainly the scope of the offenses that we deal with.

Okay, okay, you have a new operation happening tomorrow.

We do so our Whiskey Legion. It was first in its.

Sounds like a country socie.

Not quite different. Yes, So we first had it come to the district in April and it's coming back tomorrow. So what that will see is a surge of specialists and other support police come into the district from tomorrow for a seven day period and it's it's us ramping up our enforcements. So we will be tackling you know, road safety, we'll be doing high visibility patrols in our in our shopping centers and places where the community are. But more importantly or give us an opportunity to actually look at our of domestic and family violence offenses, so that would be a big focus for us, also our property offenders. There's a big scope of what we look at and we certainly welcome all the extra police that will be landing in the district tomorrow to his sisters.

Yeah, ok, yeah, that's all many. How many police are going.

At least thirty from outside and then of course we'll be using police from local stations as well.

Fantastic Anything else on the agenda, No, not really.

I think Christmas is coming, and again I always talk about road safety. We are still doing quite well in comparison to the previous twelve months. You know, people will be traveling a lot in the next few weeks, you know, traveling around in their caravans, most likely visiting families, going for long drives, and we'll just ask that you take care. But the focus for me at the moment will be the next seven days for this operation, and I really thank how local police for coming to work every day to keep the community safe, and particularly around this next seven day period, which will be quite an intense focus for the district.

Yes, thank you too for all that you do. You know, you put yourselves out there every single day, so thank you.

Yeah, any other messages you need to get out road safety.

Road safety is the main one, it really is. Yeah, It's something that we talk about quite often. Domestic and family violence is a big one as well. We have a lot of people now calling in, you know, for the neighbors who may be involved in an incident, which we really welcome. There is a trial that's actually happening in the district at the moment, so soon to kick off again. We were the original trial site last year and that's around how we support victims in terms of taking statements on a recording as opposed to as a handwritten statement where we ask them to come back in court that can be presented as evidence in chief that that actual body on camera footage, which is fantastic. So that would be something that canets again soon with some training for our police and hopefully it gives a better experience for our victims who don't want to keep retelling their stories.

Always wealthy of the information, and thank you so much for joining us again intending Kylie rig always a pleasure. We'll see you next month.
