So just go to dream host or Google it, find it, check it out, and it's a great way to improve your low time. Welcome to another episode of Marketing School. I'm Eric Sue and I'm Neil Mattel, and today we're going to talk about why we're doing an in person event and why you should too. So in the last episode, literally you heard its say at the end, the offer was a little different that we are going to do a live event in Los Angeles pending us actually reaching some kind of milestone. So Neil, how did you get this idea because you brought it up. Yeah, so if you look at marketing school, Eric and I don't have ads in marketing school. We don't care to monetize it. We haven't yet. Anytime we tell you about tools and stuff like that, we're not making a Philly commission. No one's paying us. And I was just like, Eric, what do we care about? And We're like, we care about impacting more people, so we can educate people, entrepreneurs, marketers, get them better at their skill, their craft, and hopefully their business starts succeeding more. They generate more revenue, and they live a happier life, and they hopefully employ more people. So I was just like, you look at marketingschool dot io, which is the site where you can go to find all our podcast episodes, and I'm like, all right, all we're doing there is trying to collect email addresses. We're telling people at the end of each episode to go and get free tools or take a survey, and we're just like, you know what, the surveys and everything are nice, but we're not doing anything with that data. Every once in a while we'll adjust feedback based on what we get but we're just like, if our goal is to impact more people, why not align everything. From the surveys, we found out that a lot of you guys would love it in person event. So I was just like, all right, if you guys want to in person event, we want to reach more people, let's time together. If we can end up getting a million views a month, and we will either way over time, but if you guys help rate review, it'll improve the process or technically speed it up, and you can go to marketingschool dot io slash stats to see where we're currently at. I was like, if we do that, it's a win win because we're happier do the fact that we can impact more marketers, entrepreneurs, help more people succeed, and you guys are happy because then you guys get a free in person event. And best of all, it allows us to connect with you guys, and you guys connect with us just as much as you guys are learning from us. We learn from so many of you guys. You guys give us ideas for podcast episodes, you guys tell us new marketing tactics that you guys are doing. I really see it as a win win situation. Events aren't all about oh, you should be a guru or an expert and you're on stage and you get to speak. No, it's about interacting with people and learning from them just like they learn from you. Yeah, and so Neil brings up a good point. I mean, Charlie Munger. One of the biggest things he said is about aligning incentives. That's what's most important in life, right, making sure that people are incentivized. So we're incentivized to you know, get to that million download milestone every single month, right, and then we want to make sure that you continue to get value from this, which is why we did that survey in the first place. And you know, the thing is, here's the interesting thing. Also in addition to people saying that they're interested in seeing us do a live event, and we did one last year as a tester in downtown Los Angeles, and it will probably be in downtown Los Angeles again, probably maybe Q one a little maybe in the middle of Q one or so of twenty nineteen, because that is a reason to go to Los Angeles because everywhere else gets cold, right. But what we found was we also asked people what would be too expensive to attend an event like this, and some people put twenty thousand dollars, some people put fifteen ten thousand dollars or so. So this one is going to be completely free once we hit that milestone, and as Neil said Marketing School of the Io slash stat you're going to be able to see how we're doing over time, and you're actually going to be able to go there and just click on the links to be able to share. All we're asking is that you spread the word around this so we can hit that mark faster. Then we'll do the live event and then from there for the people that those of you that can attend, we will put recordings as well, and you'll get secret access to the recordings. And you know we've talked about the benefit of in person events again, we did one last year. We got to connect with a lot of great people and that's where you can go deeper with people. What we're trying to do here is to build our community more, start conversations that go deeper where we can truly help people that need the most help. And in general, whether you guys are trying to align incentives with your audience and try to do something similar like Eric and I are doing. No matter what you guys are trying to do, you should one day consider throwing it in person event. It allows you to really deeply connect with your audience. Eric and I have been to many corporate conferences, like ones that you may have not heard of, like Next Steve or next Con. Is it next Next On or next next Con, But it's canceled this year's canceled this year because they grew too fast, so they're focused on employees this year. That was a good event as well. But in general, the guy who threw it, his name is Uni, and he is a marketer. He's a CMO of the company and the co founder. But the main reason he does it isn't to make money. He loses money in many cases on these events. He'll even bring in like music bands and like famous rock stars to sing for everyone. But that connection that he's building with his customers or ideal customers is amazing because that helps him determine where the business should go in their future roadmap. Yeah you know what I mean. Also, in addition to that, without that conference, he wouldn't have built a relationship with me, and he wouldn't have built a relationship with you. So it goes further than that, and it goes even as far as him doing the live event first. And then I did a live event recently in Cabo, and he came to that event and there's just so much gold that he shared, and then that entire group too. So just keep in mind a lot of these things end up adding up over time, and a live event is I think one of the best ways to go about truly marketing your brand. So that is it for today.
