So just go to dream host or Google it, find it, check it out, and it's a great way to improve your low time. Welcome to another episode of Marketing School. I'm Eric Sue and I'm Neil Patel, and today we're going to talk about what the purpose of blogging is if it doesn't generate sales. Neil, how long did your blogging take for you to generate any type of ROI which blog quick sprout? Oh? I don't know, a long time, maybe like three four years. But I didn't know what I was doing back then either, Yeah, so why were you doing it? I have no idea. I just thought it'd be cool to blog about marketing because I loved it. Seriously, that was a fashion passion, all right. So single grade, how long did it take you to generate ROI? Well, ROI or like going, Well, well, it's starting to generate income forget ROI doesn't have to be cashut positive. Well, the thing is I took over the company, that's true. But before you they weren't doing much blogging. Yes, okay, so let's talk about do you want to talk about how when I got there, the site was only getting like three to four thousand visits a month. Let's do it, all right, So it was getting three to four thousand business a month. Now we're on track for about one hundred and seventy thousand visits a month. And that took about two years to really get going. And then we're talking three four years into it. Now you know, the flywheel star to really build. And now I know it's like once you get a certain volume, it's just like you know, eventually you can see five hundred thousands or a million visits. And I've done with other blogs too. So yeah, but dude, in all honesty, most of your clients that you get for your agency, are they coming from your blog? No, they're coming from word of mouth exactly so making so why do you blog? Here's the answer. So the reason why you blog? This is my interpretation, the reason why you blog your blog posts. They aren't really going to generate you leads. Maybe some when we look at it, like some do generate some leads, but that's that's very hit or miss. What happens is if you are blogging, what happens is just traffic starts to build. Over time, people are going to start linking to your content. Once you get the links coming to your site, then what's going to happen is your domain authority goes up and whatever other important pages you have, when you publish them, those start to rank. So, for example, speaking about let's say you know we are you know Neil has an ad agency. I have an ad agency, right, we have a page on ad agency. That page alone isn't going to rank well if the entire site isn't strong. What's this? What's the phrase if one boat goes up, they all go out? What was that phrase? I have no idea, I run away from water. Oh okay, anyway, So anyway, so the rising tide lifts all the ships, right, something like that. So what sounds a nice My point around that is, Look, if you're able to build a bunch of content, people like the content, and the content starts to rank. When you rank number one, for example, more people start to rank to number one linked to number one, and then that's going to be good for you because you're creating the flywheel over time, over the course of one, two, three years or so, your site's a lot stronger. And whatever you start to publish, for example Neil publishing marketing content, it just ranks and your important pages are going to help you drive leads that you need to drive ROI. So what I found is on Neil patl dot com, I get good traffic. Now. It took me like two years to get decent traffic like Substantial, where I was like, oh cool, I can do some fun stuff with Substantial in one hundreds and thousands, and now like I think about one point a one point nine, I'm on somewhere around there. With all that traffic, I'm able to generate enough leads for my sales team where they can keep closing more and more. New business blogging does work, It just takes time. You have to hit some sort of scale. When you're at four or five thousand visitors, you won't see any great results. But once you start hitting one hundred thousand for a big market, or if you're in a really niche market, you start getting like ten thousand visitors, you'll start noticing that you can generate leads in sales. You just got to promote your products. A good example of this is if you want to promote products, check out legion Athletics. They're a blog that promotes e commerce products and they've done well from their content. If you're in lead generation, you can check out what Eric sent on single Grain or what I've done on neilutil dot com. And you got to do things like quizzes as your exit pop up to collect leads. You got to do the spinning little circle on the bottom left corner of Eric's site. You got to do email collections and content upgrades. You got to start doing like I even try tools where you go through a flow and you put into URL and it analyzes your site and if there's something wrong, I'm going to say do you want us to help you fix it, put in your information, but the blog itself won't generate you sales. The reason you want to blog is you can take that blog traffic direct it to other pages of your site or other sections, and those pages is what will generate you the sales. In other words, blogging will generate you in direct sales. It gets people in who just want to read content. You've got to take those people who want to read content and push them into places that can convert them into customers or leads, because blog content typically isn't really persuasive. But on the flip side, landing pages can be much more persuasive because you don't have to worry about them ranking. So funnel your blog traffic into pages that you can squeeze them and convert those people into sales or leads. So what I'm hearing is bring them into your world, nurture them, build a relationship, and eventually they'll buy. Yeah, but I don't even nurture that much. I've talked to people at a HubSpot, and even though they sell email marketing and nurturing, they even tell me that majority of their sales come in the first thirty days and nurturing is almost useless. I agree with them. I don't think that nurturing is fully useless. It's just that it doesn't generate that much revenue. You just want to get them into your world and start pushing them to landing pages where you can cover them right away, or if you collect the email. Don't just nurture, but you need to start selling people within the first thirty days at the latest. Actually, that's true. So the couple episodes not a couple, but you know, we've done an episode where we talk about the power of one of them, where we talk about the power of having a super signature. Now, super signature, if you apply to our email, let's go to single Green dot com. Just fill it out and then what happens is we will send you an email, but on the bottom of the email will say, hey, look, look you're not sure where to get started. Okay, check out our training over here, check out our software over here. If you need marketing services, go over here. Russell Brunson also does a really good job. If you go to clickfunnels dot com often to his list, you're going to see a super signature at the bottom, and it just brings people into the world and then basically people can kind of self select as to what they want to be doing, and then people can make a decision. There make it easy for them. The other thing I've done is I recorded I thank videos. So once you opt into my list, depending which list, you get sent to a page where it says, hey, this is Neil Patel, thank you for opting in. Now that you're at the blog, you have a few options. If you're trying to learn marketing and just get good at it. There's a blog, there's a podcast, marketing school, there's my YouTube videos. If you want me to just do it for you and you guys don't have the time in your business, click the link below to go to my ad agency. And then I give a few other options, like if you want to use my tool, just click the tool link below and here's what it looks like. But that video on the thank you page does really well for me. Wow, I am going to copy that. You're welcome, all right, thank you anyway, I think I got the idea from you. No, you probably, I think you did, but you made it better, so I'm going to recopy you.
