I'm Eric Sue and I'm Neil Katl and today we're going to talk about what should you do if the wrong page ranks for a target keyword. So this was actually really interesting for me. Right now, you know cares to get your thoughts. But I'll just give you an example. I mean, so, for we have a we have a blog post right now that ranks for online marketing companies or internet marketing companies, which is a pretty valuable keyword considering that I run a online marketing company or an online marketing agency, right, So you know there's also I mean that keyword itself. When I look at AdWords, we're talking twenty thirty dollars per click, right, and we're top ten for that keyword. So it's like, okay, what do we do with that? Because the page that converts the best for us as an agency is our home page because it has you know, the companies that we work with. You know, it has clear call to actions, it says, you know, we're an agency, right versus a blog post. So we're actually trying a couple of different things right now. You know what you can do from a SEO perspective, I've talked to some seos out there. Some will just read through one redirect that page to a page that you know they want people to convert on. That's one way you can do it, and you know my test that out. But one thing we're trying right now for that blog post itself is we're adding a ranking table with you know, different agencies on it, right, So we partner up with different agencies. So we put a ranking table out there of five different agencies and US being one of them. So we're just trying to test and if it works out, you know, great. But you know, I will say that once we added that ranking table, you know, I think we got three free consultation requests from that one page, so you know that, you know, on that one page three divided by four thousand visitors a month, it's like a point zero zero zero or point zero zero seven five percent, So it's a pretty low conversion rate. So we're trying different things now, right It's like, can we add like a exit pop up to it? Mentioned it, you know, telling people to you know, get a free consultation, right, So we're just trying different things right now. But a three to one, you know, from what I understand, and it's certainly one of our options is you know, the most direct way to do it. Well, what I typically do is you can internal link between your pages. That helps to Google usually just sorts things out. It's just a question of time and three. The other thing to do is the page that isn't ranking that you want to rank, compare the keywor densities between the pages and you can use SEO book has a free cure density tool. View google it you'll find it. And what I do is I start improving the cure density on the page that isn't ranking, and then I look to see who's linking to the page that is ranking, and I try to hit all those people up and also get them to link to the page I want to rank. In addition to that, I promote the page that isn't ranking through social media quite a few times to increase the social shares, and usually within period of three to four months, it fix itself out. A good example of this is for the Cured SEO tool and SEO tools, my blog posts used to rank instead of the actual SEO tool that I have that's free. Eventually I figured out how to fix it by doing one simple thing, and the thing was building links to the SEO tool page, getting more social shares, improving the usability and the time on site, and decreasing the boundary on the SEO two page. And within three to four months it picks itself out. There you go, So I think this one's pretty direct. You have a few different options that you can try in this podcast episode, and you know I'm going to continue to monitor that page that we have because that's a high value keyword for us. So that's it for this episode. But a last mention of this giveaway before it goes away, this is Zapier. So Zapier is a tool that I swear by. It's a tool that's critical to running our agency because it sets up different workflows for all the different software tools that we're using. So for example, if somebody signs a new proposal, it's going to push the dropbox, then I'll push the quick books, and then I'll push an email to for onboarding. It just makes life a lot easier and automates things that should be automated. You shouldn't have people doing this manually because that leads to more mistakes. So Zapier it's a free annual subscription for this giveaway, so we're giving away one of those. And if you want to get in on this giveaway, just rate review and subscribe to this podcast and text marketing school. That's one word, no space marketing school too.
