I'm Eric Sue and I'm Neil Patel, and today we're going to talk about what marketers can learn from live stream shopping in China. So, Neil, have you heard about this phenomenon yet? I have not heard about this phenomenon. I'm actually curious to see. All right, so I'll explain. There's this piece I recently read on the Wall Street Journals. This has actually been going on for a while. But you know, live stream people go on YouTube, people are live streaming on Facebook or LinkedIn or even Instagram. People are just kind of talking about things. Right in this scenario, what's going on is you might follow an influencer and you're going to follow them for maybe two to three hours while they're shopping in a store, and the influencers are going to talk about the products that they like, the ones that they find are interesting, and then what happens is the products start to appear. There's like a call to action that starts showing up where you can buy the product directly. And there's this company called shop Shops I believe in China where they do about two hundred and twenty of these live streams every month and they average about six thousand dollars top line, and then they collect the commission. Wait, six thousand, that's it well per stream, right, and then but you multiply, that's already one point three million dollars. And this is a fairly new thing, so I think it's pretty substantial. But keep in mind these guys they collect the commission off of it, so I think it's only going to get bigger, and I think it's new. And what's going on now is I think it's pouring over into the United States, and I think it's probably going to become a thing here soon in the US, And so what do you think about that. I think it's cool. I do believe it'll also become popular in the US. More so, what I think the trend's going to end up being in the next twenty four ish months, You're going to start seeing people shopping virtually with their friends and it's all a combined experience. So why can't you be in a shopping center like Chanelle have a virtual store and you can be with a few friends walking around picking out items, looking at it, trying it on virtually, and then them just sending it to your house. So, in essence, think of stores and big retail stores creating a virtual presence and then people can go there together and shop, or they can go there individually without leaving their home. Yeah, I mean, you're kind of seeing something when you scroll through an Instagram feed. Now you're with certain retail as you're already able to kind of buy directly off of it. So it just makes sense, you know, Video and live experience is the next frontier, and e commerce is getting continues to get bigger and bigger. I think shopif had a really good case study on the numbers on how big e commerce is getting. So I think whoever's in retail right now, it is something that is worth taking a look at, and you know, looking at what shop shops is doing, maybe even looking at the Wall Street Journal article to figure out, hey, is this live stream shopping idea? Is this something I can take advantage of, maybe get a jump on it before my competitors do, and maybe you get to kind of, you know, reap the rewards sooner and you get a bigger bump because you are one of the pioneers in your space. Yeah, this is all gonna end up blowing up in a good way. It's just gonna end up taking some time. From how we're all doing shopping, to how we're using technology, to how influencers are all leveraged. You're going to really see all these things blow up, and you're going to see emergence or not to say emergent, it's probably the wrong word, but you're going to see a combination of the offline and online world and instead of people looking at marketing as digital or offline like traditional being print, TV, radio, You're going to start seeing it all merged together and pretty much be one.
