I'm Merik Sue and I'm Neil Patal, and today we are going to talk about the best way to build links without building them. News flash, relationships. Yes, when you get to know more people, they'll naturally link to you. You go to conferences, you have friends within the industry, they'll naturally link to you. You don't have to email asking him to link to you. You don't have to pay him money, you don't have to bribe them, you don't have to do any of this. For example, I know tons of people within industry. A good example of this is I know Eric, and Eric knows me. Eric. Has your team linked to me before? Have you linked to me before? Both ways? Yes, And I've linked to Eric. It's not like I'm like, huh, what is Eric gonna give me a VI LinkedIn? We're just friends. So actually I don't think i've ever we've ever asked each other for a link like ever, No, we've never asked each other for a brink. Yeah. But on the side, note, I link to Eric not just because he's a friend. Also, his content's good and same vice versa, right, or at least I hope he thinks are content's decent. And that's the point. When you build up relationships and you have amazing content or amazing product or amazing surch, people will naturally want to talk promote, link to you, share because you've done something that's amazing or awesome. Plus they're friends of yours. You don't have to exchange the thing, you don't have to pay them. They'll just gladly do it even without you asking them. And you shouldn't try to ask friends to do any of this stuff for you because when you ask them, it just starts getting where like why tain't your friendship you know, just because of some links here and there. Yeah, And a good example of how you can actually get started doing this so practically, I mean there's a good example actually from a mutual friend of ours, Noah Kagan. He did a video on this on how he started building relationships with people. And it wasn't like he didn't come from a position of hey, like, you know, I'm gonna do this for you, so you owe me. It's more so like, hey, like I can tell you're interested in snowboarding, for example, and you know I'd love to have you come on this this you know, snowboarding vacation or something like that. Obviously that's like a huge ask, but just stuff like that, right, And that's how he eventually got Bo Jackson, the football player and the I think he played base baseball too, Yeah, football on baseball, And he got him onto his podcast because he figured out that Bo Jackson had this one charity for example, and then it was something around biking too, and he somehow touched upon what that person was interested in and started a relationship that way. You start by helping people first without expecting anything back, and then from there maybe maybe the relationship is the icing on the cake, and then from there it starts to compound into other stuff. But if you keep doing that over and over and over, you're gonna be fine for the rest of your life. And you no longer need to say, oh, can I go get a DA thirty link from you or DA fifty link for two hundred and fifty dollars. It's not going to be like that anymore, and life shouldn't be like that. Yeah, and really just build relationships. Use that strategy. Go to conferences. You can join Slack groups within your community. I don't know if there's Skype groups, Facebook groups, LinkedIn groups, whatever it may be. Just build relationships, help people out, don't ask him for anything. If they like the stuff that you're doing, they'll naturally link to you. Easiest and best way to build links. Yeah, in the very beginning, you're like, oh, well it's easier said the done, Like you guys have done it already, Like look, we all started at zero, Okay, so what happens is in the very beginning. If you're just starting out. Let's say you're coming out of college right now, Like, how in the world are you going to make this work? Well, what you do is you say yes to almost everything in the very beginning, and a lot of stuff is going to suck. Yeah, but you get to experience a lot of stuff in the beginning, and eventually, as you start to build more and more relationships, you can be more selective about who you spend your time with. And then that's how eventually people are completely blocked off on time because they become so busy, because they become so useful to all the people around them that they need to learn how to protect their time the most. Yeah, and it's not just building links. Because of relationships. You can close business deals because of relationships. You can do so many things because of relationships. It's one of the most powerful things out there. And as Eric mentioned, when you're starting off, you're probably gonna be like, oh, this is hard. Well, we didn't get to where we were are currently in a matter of a year or two or three years. Right, We're not overnight successes, and we both believe we're not even doing that well and we could be doing much better. So if you want to do well, build these relations don't expect anything in return, and don't expect results in the first three months, six months, or even the first year. Things take a lot of time, and that's okay. If you're in it to just win it really fast and check out, then this isn't for you. Go find other ways to grow or build links. But if you're looking to be in whatever business you are or in your position for the long haul, build the relationships. Yeah, easy come, easy go. So with that being said, go to single grain dot com slash survey to help us. It's going to start building a relationship with us and it's going to make this podcast better. So see you tomorrow.
