I'm Eric Sue and I'm Neil Platel and today we are going to talk about if you should be documenting or creating content. So to give you a little context, you know, some of the wisdom out there right now is, you know, instead of thinking about what you should be creating all the time, instead of having like ideation meetings, and you know, all this around content. Why not just document everything you're doing, because the logic is that if you're doing anything interesting in the world right now, well you should just be documenting it and then people can see what you're up to, and they can they can pick up little tidbits or lessons from the stuff that's going on in your life. So a really good example of this would be, you know, you see Gary V or you see Casey Ninstad, Right, they're just vlogging and they're just walking through their life all the time, but you can pick up little tidbits of information from it. Now, if you look at Gary vee stuff, most of the time, he's just walking around, he's in the office. He doesn't show his client meetings, he doesn't talk about kind of the you know, the meat of like his day, right He's it seems to be more surface level, but there's always some kind of lesson you can pull from it, right, So it seems to work for him, Neil, I'm curious to get your thoughts on whether you should talk document or create content. Yeah, it's also your personality type too. If you look at Gary V, he does really well with the documented documenting side, right me. Another example, I don't. I don't know. I don't think you do that well with it either. I think you're actually you're a bit of a mixture. You can do both, but it really is just the person. So for me, I'm a creator, and for example, I do videos like Gary Vee, but instead of documenting, I'm creating with just new information and I can shoot roughly fifteen to sixteen videos and I kid you, not an hour and a half that's how long it takes me. So for me, it's much more efficient to do that than it is to find some video person have them follow me around. And I'm also a private person, so I don't want to show my life. But it's just a bit of a mixture, right, what works best for you and then based on that, focus more on that. And that's a big mistake that I see people making because everyone's like, oh, content marketing is working, I need to do that, or oh everyone's doing video I need to hop on that bandwagon, or podcasting is I also need to do that. Well, you need to figure out what works best for you and your personality and do more of that, because if you're naturally better at one thing, you're going to be more successful at it. Then if you force yourself into doing something that you're not naturally great at. Yeah, that's that's one hundred percent true. And I mean on my end, what Neil speaking to is, I can do a little bit of both, but I actually prefer to create content. I actually prefer to plan ahead of time. It's just like how we do this podcast. I just feel better. Maybe it's because both of us like to plan ahead. So you know, when we do this, we have Scott comes up with so many ideas and send us send us an email, makes our life a lot easier. And then you know, we'll kind of you know, tailor and massage titles to you know, our own liking, and then we'll create our own as well. But that's all a process, right. I think having a process, especially for two people, is important. And I like having a process when I'm thinking about you know, the growth everywhere content or the blog content I have, or you know, guest posts and things like that. I just like to be prepared ahead of time. And I find that, you know, my stuff usually does better. And you know, with the document site documenting side of things, I mean, right now, you know, we're creating a kind of reality series where we're going into people's you know, offices. That's still you know, there's still that, there's still an element of kind of creating content and preparing. But I am walking around with a vlog sometimes as well, and I find that for me, you know, it's a little more unnatural. But hey, like I'm experimenting with with it because I'm a marketer. But you know, we'll see how both perform, and you know, we can report back on the findings, you know a little while down the road. Yeah, So figure out what's best for you to do more of that, and don't force yourself into doing something that you're not naturally good at. Yep, that's it for today and we'll see you tomorrow.
