Welcome to Marketing School, the only podcast that provides daily top level marketing tips and strategies from entrepreneurs that practice what they preach and live what they teach. Let's start leveling up your marketing knowledge with your instructors, Neil Patel and Eric Sue. Welcome to another episode of Marketing School. I'm Eric Sue and I'm Neil Patel, and today we're going to talk about how and why you should promote your blog content on Twitter in today's world. So I am a big proponent of Twitter. I love it, and hopefully i'm you know, with me talking about it, I'm convincing Neil to use it a little more and more. But I think the world's smartest people are hanging out on Twitter. For example, Naval Ravacan, super famous founder of Angelists, invested in a ton of great companies. These always sharing wisdom and just little tidbits of like philosophers or philosophy that you see from Twitter all the time. So I think that you know you can use Twitter organically. I think you can use use it also from a paid perspective, and it's not super expensive to do either. So let's talk about it. Neil, do you want to start off or I can just kick it off. No, you can kick it off. But I'm with you. The big thing about Twitter is you're not going to get the massive traffic amount that you're going to get with some of the other social networks, but the quality of the visitor, from what we've seen, tends to be higher. Yeah, way higher. It's like it's not even close. I mean, if I I'll give you an example, I mean minus LinkedIn. We actually see LinkedIn beating Twitter from all tests. But other than that, Yeah, but LinkedIn is specialized in B to B. It won't be better for everyone. If you're in B to B we find LinkedIn to be better. But in general, Twitter is really up there and it's high in quality comparter like Facebook or Instagram or Snap or TikTok or anything like that. I will say though this is not related to kind of promoting your blog content, but my book, the Leveling Up Book that's coming out. I was trying to get the one of the founders of Blizzard, you know, to help out with the book, and he responded, this is the guy that founded you know, like Diavlo, StarCraft, Warcraft, all these games. And he guy actually responded on Twitter. But so here's a good example of Twitter. So on Twitter, the Software is a Service community or SaaS, they hang out a lot there. You know, you have people like Jason Lemkin who found in saster. You have a lot of other people just tweeting cool stuff about SAS, and you can actually target these people. You can target these accounts that have a lot of followers. And so what I do is I take the SaaS content that we have from our blog and then I'll target those accounts and then I'll just write like a promoted tweet. I'll use my account because before Covid, I would frequently speak at SaaS conferences, and then I'll just promote my face, which a lot of people see at conferences, and then it would promote like a you know, a good SaaS blog post that we have, and so I might spend you know, fifty dollars to one hundred dollars a day promoting to these posts, and that actually has led to probably some of the most qualified leads that we've gotten from a SaaS. So that's good. And then obviously I can use you know, I can just promote things from an organic perspective too, and that's not going to do as well because I don't have like hundreds of thousands of followers. I have like fifteen thousand. But the people that do click, to Neil's point, are the people that I'm looking to reach, because the smart people hang out on Twitter. Yeah, the big thing is when you're doing Twitter organically, you can go out there, try to build your follower account, engage in the community, and it works. But the big thing, if you're going to want to promote on Twitter with your content, seriously, just spend like fifty bucks per blog posts and it'll do wonders for you. You won't do in wonders in visitor account, but you'll do wonders in qualified visitor account, and you can actually generate quite a big few big leads from it and customers as well. But the easiest way from Twitter is literally just going and spending money on ads. You don't have to spend a lot. Fifty one hundred dollars gets you a very very long way, all right.
