I'm Eric Sue and I'm Neil Patel, and today we are going to talk about the wealth how to learn the best marketing hacks from the top one percent. So before I even talk about it really quick, what you find is that when you're learning marketing, you're often not getting the best tactics from the from people right, whether it's on a blog post, for example, or if you're talking kind of in passing with people, or even on this podcast, like some of the stuff we can't we aren't able to share on the podcast just because it's like we know, if we share it, everybody's going to be doing it right, and then we kind of lose, like, you know, well competitive advantage. What's funny is, as you know, we record our podcasts in batches, and when we started the recording today, in the first episode, I started talking about a business that Eric's psyche put up. He said, He's like, no, and he didn't want to reveal the marketing strategies and the tactics and I know a lot of them, but we re started the recording to just exclude him. And it's funny. It's just like, yeah, we're not going to share everything that we're doing on the podcast, even though we love you, we really do, and we want to help you out, but we also know at the same time, if we share everything that's working for us, a lot of people are going to copy, and then when they copy, it's gonna make those tactics just not work anymore. I mean, that's literally what happened. The reason why I had to kind of say, hey let's let's let's go ahead and restart was because we talked about something on this podcast and literally a bunch of competitors jumped into it and like cause a lot of heartache for that one business. Yeah. So, but when you get to know people personally, like at conferences, you hang out networking events, you go to bars with them, you drink with them, you travel you you know, you go to events like the Traffic and Conversion Summit or the War Rooms or SMX. Eventually what happens is you become friends. And when you become friends and you just help people out, eventually they'll just share tactics with you and you'll share tactics with them. Yeah. I mean, look, Neil and I we we've known each other for what once, It's been seven eight years now something like that. It's a long time. Yeah, it's really a long time. Wow. Time flies. But anyway we share, I mean, we don't really hold anything back from each other. Everything is We're pretty transparent with each other. So that's Neil's point. You know, building relationships with people, and you start out with conferences first, and maybe you might not know anybody. So when you go to a conference. Maybe let's say you're starting it. You can't afford to go to the conference, But what can you do? Maybe you can get a small dinner group together, get a group of like minded people. And sometimes, I mean we've actually seen this happen, like when we go to Canada. Sometimes we have a mutual friend that will get a bunch of people together. He might have like one one celebrity, right, like Neil, and then a bunch of people will surround that dinner party and then all of a sudden he becomes a focus, right, and then you just keep doing that over and over. Right. You can do dinner parties, you can do conferences like traffic and conversion. You can also do you know these other groups like EO, YPO, vistage whatever. Find the right forum and then they're going to share their business secrets with you, because people like people, and that's how you actually get people to share the best stuff. And you don't have to get quote unquote like Internet celebrities, like I don't think I'm an Internet celebrity like Gary Vaynerchuk, Tony Robbins. Yes, right, the grand card owns a ti lope is the sam of it and the way I look at it is, I would go to a dinner as long as I see the list and I'm like, oh cool, there's other smart people or new people that I don't now, I'm like, yeah, why not. It doesn't matter if someone makes more money than you or less money than you, if you feel that they're new and you can learn something, like why not? You can learn something from anyone. And as Eric mentioned, you don't have to go to events or throw them or conferences. You can do anything right. So, for example, the way Eric and I first got connected was I believe you emailed me, right, and we just had email conversations and every time he needed something, I would help him out. And then you know, if there were strategies that I wasn't leveraging that he saw that worked well. Like he's the one who introduced me to YouTube marketing back in the day because he ran his experiment one time working for a business. He's like, dude, oh my god, this is like a diamond in the rough. No one's doing this and we're crushing it and the numbers are crazy, and I was like, oh, I should try it as well, right, So it's like he was also trying to help me out as well. And I don't ask for anything in exchange, and he didn't ask for anything exchange. But we just became friends. And it's like, that's how a lot of marketers learn what works. It's they just become friends with other people within the space. Actually that's really true if you if you think about there's a lot of marketers out there, it's it's so for us, it's not like, oh, let's we're keeping scored this, that, this, that I gave you this, EWE me that whatever. But there's actually people out there that are just like Neil, why don't you work with me? And there's there's this expectation, right, they might give you something, but they expect something back. So I think it's really important to re establish the fact that if you're looking to build a relationship with someone, you build that relationship without really trying to expect something, because if you do, you're gonna find yourself really disappointed. Yep. All right, so that's it for today. Help us make this podcast better. Got a single ring dot com slash giveaway? No, no survey. Put a single ring dot com slash survey.
