I'm Eric Sue, I'm Neil Patel, and today we are going to talk about how to get tons of views on your LinkedIn updates. So this one is going to be a quick one. But I was just talking about this with Neil the other day. Basically, you can write longer form LinkedIn content now. And what I was flying back from I think New York a couple of weeks, maybe two weeks ago, and I was like, you know what, I'm gonna try writing a longer form LinkedIn update. And what I saw was, you know, a couple of thousand. I got a couple of thousand views on it, right, So you know, for my LinkedIn you know, my connections, I probably have about six thousand or so. But you know, I got a couple of thousand views and it took only ten minutes of my time. Now, you know, I don't know what a view is quantified as on LinkedIn. They don't really define it. It It could probably just be someone going and passing. But there's a lot of second degree views too. So I saw people from like Nike, IMBM, Google, and you know they're reading it, right. So I tested it again and then you know, this time, I got you know, seven thousand views, right, So basically it's a simple text update and by doing that, you know you can you can drive some good engagement, and Neil, you can talk about you know, some of the things that you've done with your short test. Yeah. Sure, so I've tested a few times. Eric gave me the idea. He's just like, dude, have you tried this out, and I'm like, I don't know, I haven't really looked into it much. Then I started testing it out. The first update I did, I had two hundred and thirty two thousand views, two thousand and eighty likes, one hundred and fifty one comments. Since then, I've done a few more posts. What I've learned with LinkedIn is the more generic your update, the better off you are. The more specific you get from all the trends that I'm seeing, the less view shares, comments and engagement that you're getting. Now, granted, I haven't done much when it comes to converting people from a LinkedIn update to let's say, becoming a quote unquote customer or whatever it may be. What I have found is more generic, more views. Now, if you get more specific, it's probably better for you, because I believe that their views are inflated. So it just really comes down to how can you ensure that your content is being seen by the right type of people and is potentially generating income. And the only way to really do that is be super specific, right, And I can speak for some tangible results. I mean, for you know, the last couple updates I wrote, I've probably only written like five or six, and I'm probably gonna do more. But somebody was like, hey, you know, because we're hiring an account executive right now, we're looking for salespeople right One guy reached out to me directly. He's like, hey, like, you know, I saw your update, blah blah blah. You know, we should get on the phone. And he's account he's on a mid level account executive. So that's kind of what I'm looking for right now, mid level to enterprise. And then there's some other people too. A paid advertising manager from a from a reputable company reach out to and we're we're hiring more paid advertising manager. So two conversations there. And then another guy because I shared my picture of the panel that I was on a couple of days ago, you know, I added a couple of people that you know like the post and one guy reached out to me directly. Who's who's on the growth team at Dropbox? And you know, you're just basically starting conversations all of a sudden, it's becoming like it's a good relationship builder. So I see a lot of potential there. You know, LinkedIn's going to add video or get more aggressive with videos soon. I saw update from somebody was like, you know, LinkedIn should be doing stuff on video, and then the CEO chimed in and said, stay tuned. So they're doing a lot of stuff right now, and I think you know, I'm gonna be keeping a close one on LinkedIn in the next couple of months. Neil, Yeah, test it all out with a lot of these channels. Keep in mind as people aren't really using them, leverage them, and then of course over time they won't work the same. But try to be early on because that's the easiest way to get the best ROI from these social platforms. They release a new feature, use it as much as possible because typically they're really leaning in which the algorithms aren't restricting it as much, and that's when you should be using it more than any other time. Great, So that's it for today's episode. We will see you tomorrow. This session of Marketing School has come to a close.
