All right, we are going to talk about how to find the best marketers to work with? Because this is a question that Neil and I get all the time, whether we're speaking at events or people texting us. It's like, where do I find the best market? Where do I find the best marketer? So this subject is tried and true, it's never really going to go away, and I think it's a subject that we want to keep refreshing over time. So because it's like, at the end of the day, maybe we should start a recruiting arm. Neil, I don't know, right, but from one of my friends, I helped him get like two or three of the current marketers that he has on his team. And by the way, like we're more than happy to refer to these people.
So let's make this one a little bit more fun. So let's change it to how to find the best AI marketers to work with? Because I know we've talked a little bit about how to find best marketers in the past, and you and I have been getting a lot of questions as well from people on Hey, I know there's a lot of changing in AI. There's a lot of tools. It's confusing. I don't know where to start. How do I find people that can help me with all this? All? Right, you go first, sure. So one thing that I love doing is if you look at Eric and I will blog about marketing, and sometimes we even blog about AI and what we're doing with AI, or we're talking about it on a podcast. If you can go out there and look at everyone who is talking about AI marketing. Some of those already work full time for our corporation, some of them are freelancers. Some of them are just talking about it on Twitter or Instagram because it's just fun for them. Start hitting up those people and having conversations not about hiring them, but more so like, hey, I noticed you did X, Y and Z with AI, Like what are you doing for automating keyword research? Or what are you doing for bid management? And as you start talking to other people about AI and marketing, especially the people who are already talking about it, A you'll learn more and B you'll figure out who's really good in getting results. And those are the people that you want to start working with. Whether they're contractors or freelancers. You can use a lot of different naculars here, or you know, try to convince them to become a full time employee.
Yeah, on my end, So I actually there's one thing that I like doing, and I'm trying to find the post right now. But basically I look for people that are actually creating content on this stuff. And what I mean by that is there's this one guy that posted on LinkedIn yesterday and he's like, Okay, here's a new way here the power playbooks that will guarantee you bigger commission checks. Right, and then here's a new way of prospecting, and you should do it this way. You should talk about this, you should talk about this point being is that that post maybe got a thousand likes or so and a bunch of comments on it. And this guy is not only he's not just a one hit wonder, but he constantly is posting about AI. Just like if I'm looking for a good LinkedIn marketer, I'm expecting them to be talking about on LinkedIn about LinkedIn marketing, and typically what happens is I'll just reach out to these people. A really good example of this, not just in the AI space, would be Matt McGarry. He talks a lot about newsletters, right, He's known as the newsletter Operator, and yesterday he just ran a mastermind for email newsletter people. And so because he's constantly showing up every single day and he's actually actively building something, I'm more interested in talking to someone like that, right, And I was talking to Neil about this earlier, and so the new Elon Musk biography. One of the things he did early in his Twitter days when he first was taking over the company. He was interested in figuring out who's all in and who's hardcore, right, And typically if you're looking for the best of the best, they're hardcore. And well, if I'm looking at if I'm looking for someone that's hardcore, I want someone that has actually that's out there actually building something on their own. And if you're creating content out there, you're trying to.
Be a creator.
I believe that you're actually doing something, and if you're sharing case studies, you're doubly doing something. And so these are the people that are worth having conversations with and keeping them on their bench because the best of the best people usually and you can speak to this as well, sometimes you're not going to be able to pick them up immediately. Sometimes it might take you three months, it might take six months, it might take even two years to pick up this person.
Dude. You got to get to know people, want to build relationships. It's like the same reason why on LinkedIn, we don't tell people, hey, we want to hire you. It's we typically ask them, hey, do you know anyone who's like you that would be interested in a job, And sometimes they'll raise your hand being like hey, I'm interested. And it takes a while to get to know people. You don't want to scare them off at the beginning. You've got to build a relationship before you close them. Another thing that we've been doing to really find a ton of good AI marketers, dude, we've been scouring LinkedIn because right now you can see on Google or TechCrunch or any of the sites people talk about like, oh check out this new AI tool. Oh here's this AI directory that list out every single AI tool out there. And what we're doing is we're finding people who work at those corporations who know those tools. That's extremely well. And we've been interviewing those kind of people being like, Huh, if you're part of our organization, what can you help streamline, what can you help automate? How would you end up using these AI tools? How would you end up empowering our current team members and teaching them how to use it? How can you make sure that they just use it and you don't train them and then they're like, oh cool, I'm just going to go back to doing what I was doing my old way and just ignore this. And we found out to be a pretty effective way to also find people who are good at AI because some of these guys have built the tools. They're not quote unquote marketers, but they can help all the marketers within your organization adapt these aas tool and set them up in a way where it works. Because if you remember AIS technology, how can you have your marketer's leverage technology? And sometimes it's not just about hiring someone whose background is marketing, but sometimes it's about hiring that engineer who can help your team integrate AI as well.
One other wrinkle here, because this AI stuff is so new, it's talking to these people, getting on a phone call with them, just asking them what the most impressive thing they've done in the space and just ask them say, hey, are you interested in doing that for us? Could be on a consulting basis, or could be on a full time basis. Right because even you yourself talking to them right now, you might not be clear on what it is that they've done and what it is that they've accomplished. But once you've talked to them and then you think about the potential angles for your business, that makes it a conversation where it's a lot more conducive to actually getting things done versus just picking things out of the sky. Right, So that is it for today. Oh, by the way, one more thing. I don't know if you know this, Neil, but LinkedIn added a bunch of features to Sales Navigator, a bunch of AI features where you can just ask it to find certain people and it'll also kind of summarize who you have in certain lists as well, so you can say, hey, I want to find the best AI marketers that have been in the space for three four years and have worked at enterprise companies or worked at enterprise agencies or something like that. That is now becoming more of a thing and you think about it. LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft and they just have tons and tons and tons of data. So that is it for today. Go check it out.
