I'm Eric Sue and I'm Neil Platel and today we're going to talk about how to build an audience when you're not an expert. So Neil and I we've been getting a lot of messages from people. Oftentimes when we're doing these lives and people are in the comments, people are like, oh, but you guys already have an audience. You guys are experts already, like we don't have that. Well, the key thing here is that Neil started with nothing. I started with nothing. And you know, one of the key things you can do when you're not an expert is if I'm eighteen years old right now and I'm listening to marketing school, I already think that's amazing, right, So to be able to document your journey along the way, because you're just you're just living your life. Right, So, like I have a camera right here, I can just talk to my camera every day, or I can use like a dji osmo, or I can use my phone and I can just shoot, you know, hey, here's day one, right, I can just call my show, you know, path to one million Dollars or something like that with Neil Patel, and then it's like, Okay, I actually reached a million dollars. And then you're onto the next space and at a certain point you're actually able to teach your lessons. But at the very beginning, when you don't have any experience, you can you know, have people follow along your story and people are going to reflect back on that later. But your audience is slowly going to get bigger and bigger, because I'll just talk about the Leveling Up podcasts. When I first started it, I was just getting people's stories. I was just documenting their journey along the way right, and it slowly got bigger and bigger and bigger. And then I did that podcast for about four years before we started the Marketing School podcast. And you know, at that point I had already built up enough expertise. So now you know, we can kind of go back and forth on this podcast, Neil. Another strategy too is interviewing other people. So go look at Eric's Leveling Up podcasts. You can also check out Mixture by Andrew Warner. Eventually, if you continue to interview other influencers within your space, you're gonna get known from that, and it's gonna help you build up an audience and eventually you're gonna learn a lot, get the experience, and you'll also be seen as an expert. But in the short run, go and interview everyone wants press. Most people are not gonna say no when you ask them to be on a podcast. It doesn't matter who they are. They'd be a CEO of a publicly traded company. You'll be shocked on how people respond and say Okay, sounds good. Easiest strategy, easiest approach. Yeah, to be honest, sometimes I'm amazed when public company CEOs take the time out of their day to do an interview with me. And sometimes the interview goes for like forty five minutes an hour, and you think about how much that hour is worth. So people love to talk, right, and people love to talk about people's number one favorite subject Neil themselves exactly right, how to win friends and influence people. So guys check out that book as well. But look, the strategy has been done over and over. You can document, not create, or you can interview people and just ask them good questions and that will teach you how to ask better questions when you're interviewing other people, whether it's for a job or just improving your people skills in general. And that certainly helped me a lot. So that is it for today, before we go go to Marketing School the ioslash Live.
