I'm Eric Sue and I'm Neil Patel, and today we're going to talk about what I would do, what Eric would do if Eric was starting all over from scratch in twenty twenty, and the next episode we're going to go with Neil's side of things. All right, Eric, so what would you do? This is actually fun episode, not a fun but This is an easy episode for me because I can stay muted the whole time. So I think, okay, if I had this is assuming that we have the knowledge that we have today, and if we're starting from scratch, we had no resources. You know, one of my favorite things to do, I would I think about the days when I took over Single Grain and I started growth everywhere. I started creating a ton of content while I was trying to save the consulting business. It's a very similar template because the first thing you want to make sure is you want to make sure that you're getting some cash coming in. So I would start doing consulting to get some cash through the door, right, just to make sure that I can cover my food, I can cover like my living expenses. And at the same time, when I think about today, blogging is really difficult now, right, So I would start with podcasts first, because I still think podcasts are continue to grow, even though there's a lot of new ones starting. But I would do podcasts and I would just you know, continue to teach people. I would interview people to build my network up. Again, Let's assume my network disappeared, because a lot of my network has been built through podcasting, and then that's translated to you know, real life interactions and then you know groups that I put together as well. So podcast has always been good. I'm gonna start with podcasts as the base. I'm gonna start with consulting. Then once things start to get a little better for me, let's say I cover my standard of living. That's when I'll say, Okay, how do I parlay what I'm doing on the consulting side, build a team around that, or just do really well with consulting, and then start to think about, Okay, who can I partner with to build something that has more scalability Because consulting there's a cap on it. You can definitely build a team if you want to go down that route. That's not my goal though. I'd rather build a product, whether it's around info or whether it's around like a software product. Right. The problem with software is that's going to take it might take you two to three years to get product market fit. I might go down the direction of creating a course, so I might create an info product and a couple episodes ago we talked about seven Secret Stuff selling a high ticket course. You can definitely do that, like that's a really fat way. If I have some cash flow coming in from consulting, then what I'm going to do is I'm going to put that money run some ads, maybe half of the money, run it to its courses. And then that way my income starts to scale more. And then I can start to think about, Okay, now that I can afford a team. Now I have good more income coming in. You know, what do I want to do next? Because I know for me, the course isn't the end all be all. But let's say I have this big mission of you know, helping everyone level up. Then I need to move to the next phase. And I know consulting and the courses, you know, those are just a means to an end, but it's not the whole long term thing that I want to do. And I'll give you example here. So we had a guy that was working for us. He was making okay money, but he decided to do a course and the course was actually helping him generate I think I want to call it, let's just call it, you know, three hundred grand a year. Funny thing is he still continued to work for me because he continued to learn. But see that's the model that he decided to take. He's like, Okay, this is a different model. By the way, He's like, I'm going to go work for someone, I'm going to learn a ton and then what I'm is, I'm gonna put out a course approved of myself that I can do it as an entrepreneur. And then also I'm going to continue to learn from this guy, and then I'm going to move on to the next thing. Right, So, I think a lot of different ways to skin a cat. You can start by working for someone first, and then you can try to build more scalable income to courses or even e commerce. You can drop ship something. I just e commerce is too like there's a lot more variables there, so I prefer to stay away from it. And then you can start to think about Okay, you know now, am I okay with my lifestyle? Or do you I want to build a team? Do I want to scale something to the next level? So that's what I would do at a high level, Neil, you have questions, no questions yet, all right, So you know I would encourage you all, Like, if you're thinking about starting from scratch, I think you have to before you even do that. You start to think about go watch the Simon Sinek video. You know, start with why and think about why you're doing things, and then you think about, oh, oh my god, Eric's doing the Rara stuff right now. But like, seriously, if you don't know why you're doing things, and if you don't know what you're trying to do long term, could even be ten to twenty five years out and then you know your your ultimate mission, you're not going to have a north Star, and then you're just going to be someone that's just trying to make money, which is it's fine, but it's only going to get you so far, and negative become demotivated by that because anybody that's that hungry, that's ambitious, you're not going to have any trouble figuring out a way to make money. It's more so like what are you planning to do long term? And then you have a reason to do what you're trying to do. So the more unrealistic your goal, the more resources you need to make it happen. So you got to think about how you can do that. The final thing I'll say is this, if I wanted to just start with the software, there's a lot of different ways, Like you can crowdfund your raiserin it can go to angels. You know, there's a lot of different opportunities to grow there. So if you want to consider that, we've done a couple episodes on raising financing, and you know, if you want to go straight into that, that's certainly an option too. If you really knew that you're going to build something like a big consumer product, Neil, nothing really from my end, all right, pretty much has gone through everything. That's it for today.
