The letter acknowledged a shortage of police officers but pointed out this issue was widespread across the U.S. They mentioned addressing this with pay increases and high starting salaries for new officers. The Marietta Fire Department was nearly fully staffed, with a low vacancy rate, and ongoing improvements were in place to ensure public safety. The officials emphasized their commitment to the city's safety and its dedicated public safety professionals.
