Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murdering Friend off Delk Road

A 26-year-old man, Kehari (keh-HAH-ree) Yarber, has been convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for the murder of his friend, 20-year-old Blake Porter. The incident occurred in late October 2020, with Porter's body discovered in the woods between two apartment complexes off Delk Road.

Yarber was found guilty of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Superior Court Judge Rob Leonard imposed the life sentence plus an additional five years to be served consecutively.

The conviction resulted from an investigation that included surveillance footage analysis and social media records, leading to Yarber's arrest in December 2020.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorneys Stephanie Green and Erman Tanjuatco (tahn-hwaht-koh), with Cobb District Attorney Flynn Broady Jr. expressing gratitude towards law enforcement and prosecutors for their efforts in securing justice for Porter and his family.

STORY 1:Missing Cobb Teen Found Dead from Apparent Suicide

Cobb County Police Department reported the tragic discovery of 17-year-old Reed Springer's body, who had been reported missing earlier. Reed was found dead near his east Cobb home, believed to have died by suicide. Police do not suspect foul play. Reed had left his house around 12:34 p.m. on Tuesday and was reported missing later that evening. Stress over finals was cited as a potential factor. The Cobb County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.

STORY 2:Cobb School District Map Debated in Appeals Court

Lawyers presented arguments in federal appeals court over whether a lower court's ruling that the Cobb County School District's map was likely an unconstitutional racial gerrymander should be upheld. The original lawsuit, initiated in June 2022, challenged the 2022 school board map. The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments on the district's appeal. While the map in question is no longer in effect due to a new map signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp, the legal battle continues. The appeals court also questioned the school district's standing in the case, with Judge Ed Carnes criticizing their handling of the lawsuit. A ruling from the appeals court is pending.

The Cobb County School District, after selecting a site for its new $50 million event center, is seeking to annex a 10-acre portion of its property into Marietta. The proposed annexation, approved by the Cobb Board of Commissioners, aims to bring all district-owned property near the chosen location into the city. The event center, planned adjacent to the district's headquarters, will host various events and activities. Additionally, the commission approved an annexation request from Powder Springs to develop a single-family home community on county property. This move aligns with the district's and developers' plans for future projects in the area.

17-year-old Reed Springer has been reported missing in East Cobb. Reed was last seen around 8 p.m. on May 14th, and concerns are growing for his safety. Reed, who is mildly autistic and hearing impaired, was wearing a gray or brown jacket, black shorts, and black shoes at the time of his disappearance. He stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds.

The Cobb County Police Department is calling on anyone with information to come forward and contact them at 770-499-3911 or dial 911 immediately. We urge our listeners to spread the word and keep an eye out for Reed. Your help is crucial in ensuring Reed's safe return to his family.

STORY 1:6 More Arrested for Fight That Left 19-Year-Old Dead

Six additional men have been arrested in connection with a fatal fight in a Powder Springs subdivision that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Fabrice Robelin. The altercation occurred after a dispute, initiated by text messages, led to a physical confrontation at the Lost Lakes subdivision. Coledye Warnock, the brother of one of the arrested men, is accused of fatally shooting Robelin during the altercation. According to witness statements, the fight ensued between multiple individuals, leading to Robelin being shot. Warnock and others fled the scene, with Warnock later arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assault, and other offenses. The other six men face charges of fighting and disorderly conduct, with one also charged with obstructing law enforcement. Robelin was pronounced dead at the scene, and investigations are ongoing.

STORY 2:Former Facebook and Nike Diversity Manager Gets 5 Years for Fraud

Barbara Furlow-Smiles, a former diversity program manager at Facebook and Nike, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for orchestrating a complex wire fraud scheme aimed at stealing over $5 million. Furlow-Smiles exploited her position at Facebook to manipulate invoices and payments, directing fraudulent proceeds to herself and associates. She continued the scheme at Nike after being fired from Facebook, using similar tactics to siphon funds. STORY 1: 6 More Arrested for Fight That Left 19-Year-Old Dead
Six additional men have been arrested in connection with a fatal fight in a Powder Springs subdivision that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Fabrice Robelin. The altercation occurred after a dispute, initiated by text messages, led to a physical confrontation at the Lost Lakes subdivision. Coledye Warnock, the brother of one of the arrested men, is accused of fatally shooting Robelin during the altercation. According to witness statements, the fight ensued between multiple individuals, leading to Robelin being shot. Warnock and others fled the scene, with Warnock later arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assault, and other offenses. The other six men face charges of fighting and disorderly conduct, with one also charged with obstructing law enforcement. Robelin was pronounced dead at the scene, and investigations are ongoing.
