STORY 1: Cobb Approves Hotel, Mixed-Use Development
The Cobb County Board of Commissioners approved a 490,000-square-foot mixed-use development on Cobb Parkway, featuring retail, restaurants, apartments, and a hotel. Proposed by Riverview Associates, the Riverview Village project includes 290 multifamily units, a 130-key hotel, and 110,000 square feet of commercial space. The development replaces the Riverview Shopping Center, where Kroger recently closed. After extensive community negotiations, the plan was revised to address concerns about traffic and security, removing a proposed trail and pedestrian bridge. The board unanimously approved the project, praised for its collaborative development process.

STORY 3: Cobb Police Capture 3 Murder Suspects in 30 Days
The Cobb County Police Department announced the arrest of three murder suspects linked to multiple cases across different jurisdictions. The arrests, achieved within 30 days, were credited to advanced technology and teamwork. On November 2, a suspect was apprehended in Mableton after a brief pursuit, with a weapon recovered. On November 12, another suspect was caught following a high-speed chase and crash. The third suspect, wanted for malice murder in DeKalb County, was arrested on December 1 near I-20 in south Cobb. STORY 6: Cobb County Water System Reports 3,600 Gallon Sewage Overflow
On December 25, the Cobb County Water System reported a 3,600-gallon wastewater overflow at 1256 E. Piedmont Road in Marietta, affecting a tributary of Sewell Mill Creek. The overflow, caused by a fallen tree damaging a manhole, was reported at 12:31 p.m. and stopped by 3:31 p.m. The incident left a 10-foot sewage trail, but no fish kills were observed. STORY 7: 'Made From Scratch': Jim 'N Nick's Opens at Avenue West Cobb
Jim 'N Nick's has opened a new location at Avenue West Cobb, marking its third spot in the county. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining, a drive-thru, and a full bar, featuring classic southern barbecue dishes like the pitmaster nacho platter and the Pick 3 entrée. CEO Larry Ryback emphasized the franchise's mission of quality barbecue and community service. The opening also supported The Giving Kitchen, an Atlanta nonprofit, with a $2,500 donation.
