Michael Gay - What Is Mens Work?

View descriptionShare

Michael is a therapist in private practice in Boulder, Colorado. He earned his M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Naropa University with a focus in Transpersonal Psychology. He was a Wilderness Therapy guide for 6 years, leading and facilitating in deep transformational work with teens, adults, and families in the mountains and high desert. He has also worked extensively in the field of addiction and recovery. He is currently involved with a rapidly growing men’s organization called Sacred Sons, working to bring men together for transformational experiences, brotherhood, healing, and empowerment.

As a therapist and men’s work facilitator, Michael uses experiential and body based approaches to support healing and transformation because they mobilize emotional content in ways intellectual approaches can’t. He believes many men experience stuckness because they try to think their way through things that must be experienced. In his words, “plenty of men know every little detail of their cage, awareness isn’t necessarily what opens the door.”
