Manatee Hurricanes

Presented by Coastline Contractors The biggest game on the calendar is here. Host Chad Choate and Head Coach Jacquez Green first break down a hard-fought loss to undefeated Columbia. Opportunities in the red zone slipped away, key injuries mounted (including the absence of workhorse Caden White and later losses of Dino and TJ), and the offense was forced into a heavy pass attack. The kids competed, the O-line held up against a disruptive front, but the Canes couldn’t quite close the gap. Now the focus shifts to the main event: Manatee vs. Palmetto under the lights at Joe Kanan Field. A true local rivalry with district-title implications. Palmetto brings an explosive offense that loves the deep ball and a stout defensive front. Caden is expected back, the energy is high, and both sides know these games are almost always decided by a few critical plays. Emotion, history, and playoff positioning all collide Friday night. Tune in for the honest film review, the injury update, and the scouting report on the Tigers. Then pack the stands at Hawkins Stadium and ride with the Hurricanes. Go Canes Go!

Presented by Coastline Contractors Cardiac Canes strike again—and this time they finish the job. Host Chad Choate and Head Coach Jacquez Green break down a resilient 30-27 district win at Sumner. Down late, the Hurricanes marched the length of the field and converted a beautiful fourth-down strike to Dino for the go-ahead score. Special teams provided the spark with big returns and a blocked kick, while the defense forced the stops that mattered most. Against a stacked-box, all-out pressure look, the O-line held firm, Nolan showed off his athleticism, and the skill group delivered when it counted. The Canes are now 1-0 in district and 4-2 overall. Next up: Homecoming under the lights at Joe Kanan Field. The undefeated Columbia Tigers roll in—tough, physical, and battle-tested. A disruptive front, a mobile quarterback, and a team that thrives in close games. Manatee will look to protect the rock, stop the run, and keep the momentum rolling in front of the home crowd. Tune in for the film breakdown, the comeback story, and the scouting report on a dangerous undefeated foe. Then come out to Hawkins Stadium and celebrate Homecoming with the Hurricanes. Go Canes Go!

Presented by Coastline Contractors A 49-47 heartbreaker, zero punts, and a two-point play that will be debated all week. Host Chad Choate and Head Coach Jacquez Green break down a wild, high-scoring shootout with Riverview that went right down to the final snap. Nearly 500 yards of offense, a relentless scoring battle, and a late drive that gave the Canes a shot—only for the two-point try to come up short. The offense continues to light it up, but the defense is looking for answers after a night of too many unanswered scores. Now the focus shifts to the first district game of the year. The Hurricanes head up the road to face the Sumner Stingrays—an athletic, press-man, blitz-happy group. Manatee likes its chances in the trenches and sees big-play opportunities if it can protect the quarterback and get Caden White and the skill guys rolling. First district tilt. Road trip. A chance to bounce back and start strong in district play. Tune in for the film breakdown, the honest defensive talk, and the scouting report. Then follow the Canes to Sumner and ride with them. Go Canes Go!

Presented by Coastline Contractors Lightning delays, late-night bus rides, and a 245-yard, five-touchdown explosion. Host Chad Choate and Head Coach Jacquez Green recap a wild Thursday night in Orlando. After a two-and-a-half-hour lightning delay with almost no rain, the Hurricanes punched through for a 48-27 win over Lake Brantley. Kaden White was unstoppable—long runs, short runs, five scores—while the offensive line (including first-year players) carved out lanes and the skill guys worked the intermediate routes to perfection. The defense settled in after early motion headaches, forced turnovers, and helped turn a slow start into a statement victory that got the team home around 3 or 4 a.m. Now it’s a short trip down the road to Ramble for a Friday night clash with the Riverview Rams. A physical, run-first team with a high-powered passing game, man-coverage pressure on defense, and plenty of local flavor—including some personal family ties for the host. It’s the first true area matchup of the season, and both sides are ready. Tune in for the film breakdown, the scouting report, and the energy heading into a big local showdown. Then head to the Ramble and support the Canes. Go Canes Go!

Host Chad Choate and Head Coach Jacquez Green dig into the Hurricanes’ 41-21 win over Specialty Fit Academy. A fast start, big plays on both sides of the ball, and a defense that flipped from stopping the run-heavy Naples attack to handling a more spread look. Young secondary standouts are stepping up, the skill group is spreading the ball around like Oprah handing out cars, and sophomore QB Nolan keeps posting 70%+ completion nights. Depth is building, even if the full four-quarter masterpiece is still waiting to drop. Now the Canes head up I-4 for a short-week Thursday clash with the Lake Brantley Patriots in Altamonte Springs. A pass-happy offense, a mobile quarterback, and a chance to keep the momentum rolling before the heart of the schedule arrives. Travel day, early kickoff, and a team that’s starting to come together. Tune in for the film breakdown, the scouting report, and the energy heading into game four. Then follow the Hurricanes on the road. Go Canes Go! Presented by Coastline Contractors

Presented by Coastline Contractors From a hard-fought bounce-back win to a unique Friday night challenge under the lights. Host Chad Choate and Head Coach Jacquez Green break down the Hurricanes’ 28-17 victory over Naples. A lightning-fast start, an accurate sophomore quarterback, an 80-yard Caden White dash, and a defense that stood tall against 48 runs of physical split-veer football. New faces on the offensive line stepped up, big plays were limited, and the Canes improved to 1-1. Now the focus shifts to Specialty Fit Academy—the Rams from Dover, a football-first program with athletic skill players, pressure packages, and a talented quarterback who’s been around the block. It’s a different look after last week’s run-heavy grind, and the Canes will look to stay assignment-sound while creating explosives of their own. Senior Night - 7:30 kickoff. Hawkins Stadium is ready. Tune in for the film breakdown, the scouting report, and the energy heading into a special home night. Then come out and cheer on the Hurricanes. Go Canes Go!

Presented by Coastline Contractors Turnovers, second-half fireworks, and a classic Florida high-school showdown are on the menu this week. Host Chad Chote sits down with Head Coach Jacquez Green to break down the Hurricanes’ 34-26 loss at Plant—three costly giveaways (including a pick-six), a workhorse running back who punched in 150 yards of pure physicality, and a sophomore quarterback who still managed over 300 yards through the air once the offense found its rhythm. The defense forced plenty of punts and did enough to win… if the ball hadn’t kept ending up in the wrong hands. Now the focus shifts to Friday night under the lights at Hawkins Stadium. The Naples Golden Eagles roll in with their old-school split-veer attack—a three-option nightmare that lives and dies in a four-yard box. Coach Green walks through the assignment football, physicality up front, and the chance to bounce back against one of Florida’s most tradition-rich programs. Resilient kids. Explosive skill talent. A tough test on the horizon. Tune in, then come out and support the Canes. Kickoff is 7:30. Go Canes Go!

A dominant first half (28-6) vs. a tense second-half scare: what the close finish taught a young Hurricanes squad about finishing all four quarters in the playoffs. Keith Smith and the special teams spark, Mason’s big early throws, and how the ‘Canes forced Charlotte out of their run-heavy plan. Why Cape Coral (coached by former NFL/UFC player Jalen Watkins) is one of the most athletic teams left in 5A, with an efficient junior QB, two dangerous 100+ carry RBs, and receivers who can take the top off. Keys to the game: win up front, control the run game both ways, beat man coverage, and avoid the big play against a Seahawks secondary that lives in Cover 1.
