MAESTRO ON THE MIC….

It is not a  Saturday without some tech issue to test the Maestro at the panel while trying to play songs, mostly Australian, with the odd interview thrown in.  Even an unusual interview!  Todays adventure featured feedback (not the name of a band) which was annoying and loudness in the studio which made concentrating or going to sleep hard to do.

Check out Maestro On The Mic every Saturday between 9.00 a.m. and 11.00 a.m.

Today we focussed on Peppercreek Revival through their lead singer Kelly Auty who discussed some of her background and the bands newest album It’s All Been Said.

Welcome to   the highest rating program on a Saturday morning blasting and head busting its way out of Upweywaywaywayway…

What we did today:

 Saturday 21 February, 2026

  1. Love on the radio – Skyhooks (Ego)
  2. All my friends are superstars – Les Thomas (from the album All My Friends Are Superstars)
  3. There is a field – Kavisha Mazzella (soon to appear at PAVE Women In Song – book now!)
  4. O’Louisa – Floyd Thursby with Dan Witton and Harry Lye (Every Days Another Dance)
  5. Young turks – Sego (Direct To DVD)
  6. Rider of my heart – Ska Vendors (Good Love Bad)
  7. Sweet and lovely – Bryan Fery (As Time Goes By)
  8. You – Navisha
  9. True lovers – Ruby Hunter
  10. Sleep – Midnight Oil (Best Of Both Worlds)
  11. Human – Josh Light
  12. It’s all been said – Peppercreek Revival (It’s All Been Said)
  13. Backward glance – Peppercreek Revival (It’s All Been Said)

After overcoming, sort of, difficulties with feedback and overbearing loudness in the studio panel, we managed to speak to Kelly Auty   from Peppercreek Revival about their new album It’s All Been Said and being launched at the Lomond Hotel on Sunday 14 March.  Kelly spoke about doing odd jobs to get by, keeping a journal and then burning it, lyric writing and being in a band, her opera career and more!  She also spoke about working with Jose Feliciano, Janis Ian , Divinyls and Eric Burdon – to mention a couple.  The stories behind songs we played and more. And the band name…where is this creek>

14. Fly high (if you fall) – Peppercreek Revival (It’s All Been Said)

15. Remember – Peppercreek Revival (It’s All Been Said)

16. Everynight – Paul McCartney (Wingspan) – we played this because The Maestro saw Man On The Run with a huge audience at The Cameo in Belgrave and came away thinking it was one of the best docos on a musician he has seen. No small credit given the number The Maestro has seen.

17. I’m your man – Andy Cowan

18. Friend of mine – Rond Callaghan

19. We been in it too long – Sherbet (Life)

Thank you to those listeners who text, emailed  or rang in during the show.  We got one listener in Launceston and another on the 90 Mile Beach.  Keep it up folks!
