This is a special episode of Maed in India where we’re collaborating with Toto Funds The Arts - an incredible non-profit trust created in memory of Angirus ‘Toto’ Vellani by his friends and family after his tragic and untimely passing in 2004. Toto Funds The Arts nurtures and encourages young artists in India in music, literature and film through awards, workshops and other events. We here at Maed in India, work hard to support Indian musicians in this country. And despite the pandemic and lockdown, the Toto Music Award continues this year, to support the creative endeavours of young indie artists and honour them with a badge of excellence for their work. We are showcasing past winners of the Toto Music Award and Mae will be telling you more about how to apply in this week’s episode of Maed in India.

Started in 2015, music nerd and ex-radio presenter Mae Mariyam Thomas showcases the best talent coming out of South Asia and its diaspora. 

The show is India’s first indie music podcast and prides itself on being the premier destination for new music, little known stories that give you a peek into the lives of independent musicians, as well as being an ongoing archive of unreleased music never heard before.
