By Newsbreak Producer, Tracy Valaydham - Humanitarian relief efforts are underway in areas around Pietermaritzburg after heavy heavy rains and strong winds hit various parts of the province last night. The KwaZulu-Natal Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs has advised residents to be vigilant. Yesterday, the South African Weather Services issued a warning for heavy rains and strong winds in some parts of KwaZulu-Natal as well as thunderstorms across the province. Severe weather conditions overnight have affected  infrastructure including the Harry Gwala Regional Hospital and some houses in the Mgungundlovu District.
