This after calls made by the South African Democratic Teachers' Union (Sadtu) for the axing of Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube. This is due to her absence when President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the Basic Education Laws Amendment (BELA) Bill into law at the Union Buildings last week. The Bill's complete implementation will be delayed for three months to address concerns surrounding clauses which cover schools' admission and language policy.
